LOVE IT! I love this album. I thing Sarah's performance of Nesson Dorma is exquisite and leaves me with goosebumps everytime. I have looked for this recording on line youtube. There are many performances by Ms. Briteman singing Nesson Dorma but they all cut off and end too soon. This song may belong to Pavarotti at the Met, but I LOVE Sarah on this album!

Sarah Brightman is the best of the best. her voice and her spirit captures your heart. Coincidentally I was listening to a Gala Christmas in Vienna where she is featured along with Placido Domingo and others and again she stands out and runs away with the performance. She even gets down and funky to Santa Claus is Coming to Town. Get this CD and any other you can your hands on. She is worth every single penny you spend.

Okay, the old recordings are amazing, but the new ones are not as great. Ave Maria - very breathy, she claims it was for "a dreamlike effect". Winter Light - a song with a classical twist, the breathiness continues. Alhambra - a nice Spanish piece, a lot of scooping. Dans la Nuit - very breathy AND scooping O Mio Babbino Caro - she can't pull this piece off anymore, too much scooping Pie Jesu - a nice piece, but she can't completely pull this off anymore too much scooping and breathiness Nessun Dorma - still as beautiful as her "Eden" recording. Time To Say Goodbye - old recording, but still amazing! I personally believe that the breathiness makes the music more beautiful. I think she may have overdone this, however. She still sounds great, though.

I simply love every moment, every minute that she blows her beautiful soul and spirit into every single song. I don't care how the purists criticise her, she will always stay as a foundation for my classical "musique" inspiration. May not be fiendishly superb in the aria "Ebben! Ne Andro Lontana", but she has manifested the lovely sweetness in her vocal. A must-have for anyone who longs to seek for a new perspective of classical "musique". She is the brightest star on the dazzling cross-over sky. You have to adore her, no matter what, after savouring every gorgeous note she produced in this album

I recently reviewed Sarah's Harem World Tour album and I must say that this is a cut above that disappointment. I have made up my mind: If you want to hear Sarah at her best, go with her recorded studio albums rather than listening to her live. Her technique is so much better on this CD than the live one. She truly shines on this album.

I don't care what anyone else says Sarah is the Angel of Music! I only wish she would use more English songs, also I wasn't very happy with the ~ahem~ pictures in the album cover. That space would be better used for lyrics/translations! I wish she wouldn't do those pictures and just fill it with the music!!!

And here we have the thankfully inimitable Sarah Brightman, launched to fame by a marriage with a maudlin Broadway composer, moaning and groaning her way through some classic songs and that same maudlin Broadway composer's pitiful attempt at a Requiem. Andrew. Your music is bad enough on Broadway!!!

"Classics" is not one of my favorite S.B. albums, but there are some great tracks on here. Unfortunately, the majority of great tracks on here can be found on her other, better albums. "Ave Maria": Schubert's classic. Sarah does well performing this song, but her voice tends to crack. "La Wally": I have to say, I prefer this song as the introduction to "A Question of Honour", but nonetheless Sarah performs this with style and grace. "Winterlight": I like this song, but I'm not sure why it's on this album, because it doesn't seem classical at all. Sarah's pronunciation on this song is difficult to understand and once again, her voice breaks. "Anytime, Anywhere": One of my favorites from Miss Brightman. It's a classical-pop combo, combining operatic Adagio with a seductive refrain. "Alhambra": Nope. "Lascia Ch'io Pianga": Nope. "Dans La Nuit": I kind of like this one. It sets a very "in Paris at nighttime" mood. It's so simple and innocent. "Serenade/How Fair This Place": I love this one, but it is better suited for the "La Luna" album because the theme of night goes hand-in-hand with this. "O Mio Babbino Caro": Yes, finally, a studio version of this! I was sick of listening to the live version from "Time to Say Goodbye." "La Luna": Yes, Dvorak's classic "Song to the Moon." I also feel this one is suited better for the "La Luna," album (duh). Sarah is a master of this song. "Pie Jesu": Too sad. "Figlio Perduto": One of my favorites from Sarah. Based loosely around "The Erl King" by Goethe and Beethoven's 7th Symphony, Allegretto, "Figlio Perduto" pervades a certain creepiness that only Sarah can pull off. "Nessun Dorma": Yes, one of the shining stars on the "Classics" album. It certainly fits here, and every Sarah fan knows that she pulls this song off better than anyone else. "Bailero": Who? "Time To Say Goodbye (Solo Version)": My favorite track on the CD. I have to admit, I like the solo version better than the one with Andrea. Sarah's voice is just so suited for this. Rather than having too much orchestra in the background, Sarah has backup singers (or maybe it's just Sarah overlapped?) which really make this song even sexier.

Sarah Brightman is a stupendous talent! Her voice is soaring, crystalline, and hauntinly beautiful on the classical pieces in this album. And she even manages to bring the levitating glory of her breathy child-like voice for a few tracks. The Music is pleasing, moving, stirring, and captivating. Ms. Brightman's voice takes it all to the next level, as she evokes awe, joy, and tears with nearly every note. The album's art work is remarkable as well. Insipred by Bottecili's Venus, Sarah presents herself as a work of art: feminine, sensual, gracious, and classy; Ms. Brightman shows herself not only to be a great artist but a work of art herself. I highly reccomend this album!

My favorite of Sarah Brightman. Brings together classical tunes. From the soothing lullaby-like "Dans La Nuit" to the breathtaking "Time to Say Goodbye". This is truly a classic and a must have.

it is this album that gets me through a long subway ride. great classics with great voice!! I simply loved La Wally and Rinaldo Las Laschia Chio Piagna. Sarah's voice is oh, so soothing! Those who dislikes opera/classical music should give this album a try. You'll get hook, just like I did.

I really loved this album! The music is soothing and stirring all at once. Sarah Brightman's voice is, as usual, clear and sweet. The musical arrangements are flawless.

The only thing that keeps me from giving this album the highest rating of 5 stars is the heavy handed mix on ''Any Time, Anywhere''. I can't imagine what the engineer was thinking; the percussion is so loud you can barely hear Sarah Brightman; her biggest moments are drowned out by the excessive drum. Also, be prepared: if you saw the PBS video there are some differences. Most notably, the duet with Andrea Bocceli on ''Time to Say Goodbye'' is now a solo by Sarah. Extremely nice, however.

Like all of Sarah Brightman's CDs, this one is absolutely gorgeous. I know many who think that she has the most beautiful voice on the planet. It is like heaven on earth. This is the kind of CD that you can not stop listening to. Addictive.

This collection of classical pieces brought tears to my eyes....you can feel the depth of her passion for eloquently crafted notes. Absolutely magnificent!!!.....a must buy for the holiday season and an ensemble that will take you back through time....my favorite tracks are Pie Jesu and Serenade....the rich tapestry consumes the soul beneath the flesh...it is indeed a reflection of the inner self. Sarah is an ever-morphing artist, and this collection seems to recap her most recent work. The best of her last couple CD's, as well as a few new pieces, beautifully sung (as always), but not pushing her vocal skills so much as her ''sweetness.'' Her recording of Linda Ronstadt's ''Winter Light'' is definitely sugary-sweet, and the presence of her ''now even *I* have recorded the song'' Ave Maria seems to fit the 'Classics' collection very nicely. Probably a CD best suited for the die-hard fans, but if you're new to the world of Sarah, please don't be put-off by the unique photo sessions adorning the CD booklet. I'm just surprized she hasn't included Pat Benetar's ''Sex As A Weapon'' as an Italian opera aria!

Classics brings together Sarah Brightman's operatically inclined material with her lyrical pop work. Eight of the tracks are new recordings -- "Ave Maria," "La Wally," "Winterlight," "Alhambra," "O mio babbino caro," "Dans la nuit," "Pie Jesu," and "Nessun dorma" -- and the remainder are taken from three of her best-selling albums: Eden, La Luna, and Time to Say Goodbye. Brightman's voice is closer in spirit to musical theater than opera, but the ethereal delicacy of her sound suits these songs and arias very well. The gorgeous "Bailero," for example, is dreamy, and "La Luna" is hauntingly done. She doesn't have the vocal oomph of a Pavarotti to belt out a crowd...
