Great book. Looking forward to reading more from this author. It holds your attention waiting to see what the main character will do next..

I would have given this book 5 stars if not for some lack of proofreading, specifically calling a character by the wrong name within a single page, and using the wrong homonyms in a few places. It was still well worth the time to read it.

I loved this book. I couldn't put it down. Very good, detailed mystery. There are many possible suspects but you are stunned by the actual killer. I would definately pay for more from the author and even this book. If you like mystery, I would highly recommend it. However, be aware that this is not a book for young readers. There are some sexually graphic parts as well as swearing. I hope this author will continue to write and impress us with his work.

The main character found himself investigating and old murder and falling in love. Liked the way he set things up and planned them out. Kept me interesting

A good effort, if that's not trite from a non author, but I didn't actually finish it. The bond with Mia felt forced, and man, when the main character gets too unsympathetic so I gave up less than 75 pages from the end. Very good start, very slow middle, and then as noted, I gave up.

This book held my interest and had a few twists, but I saw the end coming. Characters are rather flat. The back story on the main character peeks through but is never quite clear and often irrelevant. It creates a second story that provides occasional back-up and a nice tidbit at the ending, but otherwise is confusing. The descriptions are detailed, sometimes to the point of nonsense - clothing details are fine but mostly extraneous to the story. Still, the story moves along, tells us something about the Tampa/Clearwater area, and has enough surprises and tension to keep the (virtual) pages turning.

Good story. To the poster who made the racist comment...what were u talking about? There was no racist comment made. It is untrue statements like yours that start problems. Get over yourself and stop trying to start a race war where there is nothing to start.

While the story line was manageable, this book is rife with cheesy phrases, misspelled words (e.g., pre-medicated instead of pre-meditated, defence instead of defense), extra words (e.g., "I you want Morse") and very child-like writing. I do not recommend this book!

I like the last 150 pages best. I felt the author could have written this in 300 pages and it would have been better. I hate useless detail in any book. Overall it was average.

I look for books about Florida..my home state. I am a Randy Wayne White & Carl Hiassen fan and this book reminds me of them. If you like either of those authors, check this out. I am hopeful his style will evolve and am currently reading the next in the series ( not free, lol ).

The characters could have been developed better. If you like cheesy cop humor this is for you. Although I did finish the book I just couldn't get into the characters or relate to their personalities and reasoning.

Joe Holiday is a very believable character. I highly enjoyed this book and do recommend it.

I enjoy murder-mysteries and even though I knew "whodunit" from the beginning, it was still a fun read.

My main complaint is the poor proofreading. Often I had to re-read portions to get the meaning which interrupted the flow of the novel. And I'm not sure Joe and Mia were believable as a couple. However, the story line was interesting and the plot kept moving at a good pace, so I really did enjoy the book.

There were some typos but it was good. A fun read I may buy more Id like to know what is next for the series.

... the proofreader must have nodded off about half way through the book. Had the proofreading and corrections been made this would have definitely been a 5 star rating. Character development was great. You felt like you knew these people and were interested in what was to become of them. I will be looking for more by this author and hoping that the next proofreader does this author justice by doing a good job of catching the errors that took away the flow of this book.

I really liked this book. A little to much on the discriptions sometimes but other wise great. I will read more from this author. I would love to find out more of what happends with Mia and Doc after this book ends.

I thought i had it figured out in the 2nd chapter. I was wrong. The proofreading/editing needs work, but it was a pretty good read.
