Clearwater Live!

Editorial Reviews

This, however, is the first ever live document of the perennial event that draws upwards of 20,000 attendees. Fans of urban folkies like John Hall, Vance Gilbert, and Dar Williams will no doubt appreciate their live ...

Fans of urban folkies like John Hall, Vance Gilbert, and Dar Williams will no doubt appreciate their live performances here, but those moments do not stand up to readings of old leftie chestnuts like "If I Had a Hammer" (from Pat Humphries and Josh White, Jr.) and Phil Ochs' righteous "I ain't Marchin' Any More" (the Nields). Seeger himself performs with Tao Rodriguez on "Draft Dodger Rag," but the youngster certainly carries the elder here. Seeger's best days are far behind him, but Clearwater represents just one facet of the towering legacy he will leave us.
