    Useful in the classroom

I appreciated the fact that Cleopatra is portrayed as a flawed as she was in real life. She's not beautiful, but she's strong and determined. The author makes it clear she was flawed, but accomplished, and her importance in history is explained in understandable terms. Students learned about Cleopatra's life as a girl and how that influenced her when she ruled as queen. There's a helpful timeline at the end of the book. Historical fiction based on enough factual information to make it useful in the classroom, while the fictional aspect tied in to the facts and made it accessible and interesting to young readers. Highly recommended. The class favorite in this seris was Elizabeth and the Royal Pony (girls in the class are pony-crazy).
