Meet the Author

Purveyor of the written word, Nancy Loyan Schuemann has been writing ever since she began composing picture books for fellow students in elementary school. After graduating with a BSBA degree in Marketing from John Carroll University, she pursued a career in sales and marketing. During the past ten years she has incorporated those skills into a professional writing career. She is a freelance writer specializing in construction, design, architecture, histories, profiles, antique safes, travel, and special interest in local and national publications. She is author of a local history book, On the Threshold of a New Century: The City of South Euclid, 1967-1999. Nancy is a Cleveland native who is thrilled to share her knowledge of and love for the City by contributing to Cleveland, Ohio: A Photographic Portrait. She shares her life with her husband, Bill, and her Pointer/Labs, Amber and Topaz.

Carl Stimac is an Ohio native based in Mentor who has been photographing the state of Ohio since the mid 1990's. His photographs have appeared in many national, state and local publications, including calendars and greeting card companies. He is a regular contributor to Ohio Magazine, the Ohio Division of Travel and Tourism, and several County Visitor's Bureaus in Ohio as well as contributing to a stock photo agency. For Stimac, local photography provides an exciting opportunity to see the amazing diversity of history, culture, art, and tradition found in Cleveland and its neighborhoods.
