    A free tidbit with a big come-on

    This free NookBook is only 56 pages long, including cover, contents & all. The "Clever John" fairy tale is cute and clever, but is only four pages long. The rest of the book is a free sample of another of the author's books -- the freebie is clearly designed to entice readers into buying more of the author's writings. Didn't work for me.

    An enchanting fairytale by the talented Elizabeth Hoyt!

    Anyone who has read Elizabeth Hoyt's work knows that she includes a fairytale in each of her books. The fairytales are told bit by bit at the beginning of each chapter and they complement or mirror what is going on in the book. CLEVER JOHN is the fairytale Ms. Hoyt has written for her spectacular third Maiden Lane book, SCANDALOUS DESIRES.

    Even if you're reading CLEVER JOHN as a standalone fairytale, it's a delightful read. Ms. Hoyt makes every word count in her stories, and though short, CLEVER JOHN is wonderfully satisfying. As with many of Ms. Hoyt's full-length books, CLEVER JOHN is a story I'll be reading over and over again.

    The release of CLEVER JOHN also makes me desperately hope that Ms. Hoyt's publisher will make her other fairytales available. As much as I enjoy reading them in the books, it would be wonderful to be able to read the fairytales straight through.

    The actual clever john story is only 4 pages the rest is a sample from another book.

    This is a great fable and a quick easy read!

    This is a good little book (novella?) and a quick read. It tells a story that illustrates what we all know--LOVE is everything and without it, nothing seems worthwhile.

    She has a book that has this story incorporated into it. She always tells a fable chapter by chapter as she tells the story in her books!

    Very different.

    Short

    Entices others to buy her other novels but I CAN'T BUY THEM CUZ I LEAVE IN THE CARIBBEAN. I am so sad
