Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
Clifford and his friend Emily Elizabeth do everything together. Summer or winter they are out playing and having fun. But one day the big red dog gets an offer to go to Hollywood where he will become a big star. Clifford is excited because he really can act and at first it is exciting, but the life of a movie star has many perks—he has a big home, lots of attention, fancy collars and his own swimming pool. But the demands of his fans and the need to always be in the public eye are really not what Clifford wants. He longs to go home and be with Emily Elizabeth, so off he goes leaving all the glitter behind and finds happiness with the people that he loves. It is an old story, but one that kids can easily relate to with the simple text of this level 1 book in the "Scholastic Reader" series. There is no place like home and being with the ones you love and who love you. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
