Children's Literature - Erika Clark
This is a great book to teach young Spanish readers every day and essential words. The focus is on adjectives, which are highlighted in red so readers can easily identify, describe, and compare Clifford to the animals Emily Elizabeth spots at the zoo. While the penguins appear to be small, Clifford is large. The colorful butterflies that float in the air are as light as a feather. The hippopotamus enjoys relaxing and bathing in a pool full of dirty mud, but Clifford prefers staying clean in a soapy bubble bath in his backyard pool. The howling monkeys might be the noisiest in the park, but Clifford loves to sit and quietly listen to all the diverse sounds in nature. And even though the slow sloths live up to their true name perezosos, Clifford is never slow and lazy. This book is not only entertaining; it also includes exposure to higher-level adjectives in Spanish. The reader can also learn fun facts about each animal and insect such as the place of origin for the penguins and howling monkeys. Reviewer: Erika Clark; Ages 1 to 5.
