Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
The padded cover shows Emily Elizabeth in her nightgown resting on Clifford's paws as she reads a bedtime story. Her gown is the same color as the night sky and is decorated with crescent moons and bright stars. The book is designed to describe the bedtime rituals—a bath, which for Clifford is a major undertaking, as is combing his fur and washing his ears. He gets his teeth brushed with "Pupsodent" tooth paste (a pun that adult caregivers may find amusing). Once ready for bed, Emily Elizabeth reads a story about knights which has Clifford dreaming about an encounter where he saves a princess who looks a lot like Emily Elizabeth. Both are soon asleep, but some parents may wonder at the protagonist sleeping outside the doghouse on one of Clifford's big red paws. A marginal offering which will appeal to Clifford fans.
