Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
"The subject is explored in great depth and should prove valuable to policy makers, researchers, analysts, and students."American Meteorological Society 2002
This volume forms part of the Third Assessment Report produced by the Working Group II of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. With a focus on the mitigation of climate change, the ten chapters discuss the strong interlinkages between climate change policy and policies towards sustainable development; technological options to reduce greenhouse gas emissions or enhance their sinks in various economic sectors and regions; technologies and practices that can achieve the targets of the Kyoto Protocol in the short term and stabilize atmospheric concentrations of greenhouse gases in the longer term; technological, social, economic, cultural or institutional barriers that impede the implementation of these options; costs at the global, national and sectoral levels; other benefits that climate policy can deliver or the climate benefits of other socio-economic policies; and how this data can be used to support climate policy decision making. Edited by Metz (The Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment), Ogunlade Davidson (U. of Cape Town), Rob Swart (IPCC Technical Support Unit) and Jiahua Pan (The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences).
