A good place to learn about medical research

Medical research has changed rapidly in the last few years, with a new focus on making it more efficient and more team-based. This book captures the excitement of this transformation, and is the first to introduce this new discipline of Clinical and Translational Science.

It is aimed at students, trainees, and professionals involved in or hoping to one day be involved in medical research. Fundamental principles, clinical trials, nanotechnology, analytical methods, human genetics, human pharmacology, drug discovery, the regulatory environment, and population-based research are all amply covered.

My two favorite chapters were Crowley's "A Stepwise Approach to a Career in Translational Research" which is replete with advice and guidance about a clinical research career, and Zeger's 'Introduction to Biostatistics". Zeger's chapter is the only intuitive and clear introduction to biostatistics I ever read.
