5th edition much improved: better focus, coverage and accuracy.

This Text is quite improved over previous editions. It is well written and well illustrated with new material and an improved organization. Although there were notable flaws in previous versions, this Edition has been carefully re-worked and cleaned up. I have read it from cover to cover and have found only a few (mainly typo) errors that escaped the Editors. Overall, the Text's flaws are minor and will not distract or misguide the Reader.

As far as content, I know of no other Text that does as good a job at reviewing basic muscle, bone and joint patterns from the "functional" perspective of Kinesiology. Overall, I have found it extremely useful: clarifying fundamental musculoskeletal anatomy within the context of basic body mechanics (Biomechanics). This text does not attempt a complete coverage of human anatomy. (Coverage of heart, brain and peripheral neurovascular topics was both expanded and re-organized in this Edition, but there is more in these areas that would be useful to Kinesiology and related Fields). All in all the functional approach goes a long way toward making this introduction to the complexities of human anatomy and anatomical relationships both accessible and interesting.

This Text will be useful to students if a range of Health and Health-related professions to give a good basic framework for advanced studies of Body Form and/or Body Function. I would recommend it in particular to Medical or PT students starting (or reviewing) Gross Anatomy. These students will find this text a useful adjunct to (and relief from) the typical course-required Gross Anatomy texts that overwhelm you with questionably relevant detail, overly complex illustrations and torpor-inducing prose.
