Purpose: This is a significant contribution that further clarifies the inextricable link between clinical judgment, critical thinking, and ethical reasoning by describing nurses' clinical and ethical wisdom and their thinking in action and reasoning in transition as they engage in their day-to-day practice. The impact of the authors' work in the area of nurses' clinical judgement is well known, and this latest book makes yet another significant contribution to this area.
Audience: The authors indicate that the text is appropriate for graduate nursing students, practicing critical care nurses, advanced practice nurses, educators, and clinicians from other disciplines. Medical students and physicians would be interested in the nurse-physician relationships portrayed in this book. It could also be used for undergraduates with proper faculty mentoring and guidance. An exciting feature of this book is Appendix B that describes how to help students become reflective practitioners vis-a-vis the selection and writing of nursing exemplars gleaned from their own practice.
Features: The authors present the multi-faceted world of the critical care nurse, describing the know-how embedded in expert practice is applied in many different situations.
