I really love the entire book and how it unfolds. Its dark and sexy. I certainly didn't expect some of the things that happened. She explains how and why the Krinar are on Earth so amazingly that's its insanely convincing. Close Liaisons is not a happily-ever-after ending type of book. The sex is well paced and direct vs flowery. Yes there is lots of sex in the book but I like that way. It fits perfectly with the characters and the world she created. I was really amazed with this book! The use of science in it is a bit of a mix of real world and future possibilities. Krinar technology is wickedly thought out. There's even a few small mentions of Vampires in this book. Not in the way we think of them. LOL. Well sorta, but you'll have to read the book to find out about it. =) It's HOT! Mia had her own idea of how her life would turn out. She was in a for a surprise when a sexy alien named Korum finds her to his liking! Mia knows regardless of how she may or may not really feel it's made clear that she is stuck with Korum until he tires of her. Who does she believe? The resistance? Or an ultra sexy alien man who's been nothing but nice to her? Sure he's demanding but he has been nice. If you can call it that. I like how she isn't sure who she should trust and how she just keeps carrying on. I wanted to yell at her for some of her choices along the way. Some of them I wanted to be her friend and cheer her on too. Korum’s powerful, extremely sexy, and intelligent. We get small pieces that clue us in on just how intelligent Korum is as the story unfolds. I didn't know if I liked him or hated him until the very end. And to be honest I'm still on the fence about him. But at the end of book 1 I can say I like him more then I hate him. I find him intriguing. Some readers will find Mia's situation isn't all that bad. Others could be completely put off by it. You could call their first act of intercourse as a warped version of rape. I myself don't see it that way at all. Korum doesn't really force her to do anything. I do get the feeling that he would have no problem forcing a human to do what he wants. Give it a chance and form your own opinion on this wonderfully written and thought out story. This book is definitely a HOT sexy read! Bottom line its a new edgy erotic Sci-fi paranormal romance that I absolutely love and eagerly wait for Close Obsession. Will Mia ever find her a happily-ever-after? I have no idea. But I certainly want to join her on her journey.

Welcome to a new Earth! A place where the Krinar have taken residence right along with the humans. A place where these ''aliens'' have taken on Earth as theirs. With their rules and their way of life. If you are lucky you may never encounter a Krinar and you can live in peace. This isn't the case for Mia Stalis. She was minding her own business while sitting on a park bench one day when Korum took notice of her. His interest in her is what turned her world upside down. With no choice but to follow along with all Korum has to say will she make the ultimate decision to help the human race on taking back their planet or has she fallen too deep with Korum? Mia Stalis is your young, naive young woman in college. She still has strong attachments to her family and friends. When she comes across a strong, domineering, sometimes callous 'K' (Krinar aliens are called K's in this book) she has no experience in how to save herself from the world she's about to fall under. There were times I wanted to scream at Mia for some of her choices, but the author did such an amazing job in describing the situation as a ''NO WAY OUT'' situation. Makes you feel bad for Mia. Makes you dislike Korum. But it's really hard when the tenderness and love starts showing through between the two. It's almost close to a BDSM book where he is the dominant and she is the submissive. He's every definition of a dominant. Hard headed, possessive, bossy, and most times callous. What Korum wants, Korum gets. I can't say I like him fully. I can say I like the character and the way he was written. We have a powerful enemy that falls in love with our leading lady and we get very conflicted with our feelings for Mia...we stand behind her, we want to smack her, we root for her, we want her to blow up too. Lol. No Really I love Mia. It's just that amazing way an author can write that rises all these emotions out of you. Anna Zaires has wrote a book that transfers emotion right into the reader from page to page. The sexual scenes in here are not for the weak. There is pain, passion, submission, domination, strong loss. I think I cringed every time. It was hard to like him as a person. As a villain, well that's a whole other story! He's a fantastically written ''villain''. I think I secretly love him. I know I love to hate him. I know I love Anna Zaires for writing this story! I really, really want the sequel already!! I love to read a book with a dark, edgy side. It's not always roses and sunshine. This whole idea has originality and it's refreshing to get a new vision on an ''alien'' take over! Awe-some job on creativity and imagination! If you enjoy paranormal romance with a big touch in the SciFi this book is for you! I give this book my thumbs up!

Loved it! Great plot and a really hot relationship between the main characters. Reminded me of Fifty Shades a bit, just much more interesting and better written. Looking forward to the second book's release.

This was such a good read. This is the first time I came across such a realistic paranormal romance. The world building was topnotch, and the romance was very steamy. I liked both Mia and Korum, though I sometimes wanted to kick him and tell him to stop being so arrogant. Still, he was just too hot for me to stay mad for long, and there were so many ways he showed he cared, even if he didn't explicitly say he did. I was also amazed by the plot. A total surprise ending. I can't wait to read more!

Mia’s world gets turned upside down when she meets Korum. Korum is a tall gorgeous man, only he isn’t human; he is from a different world and happens to be two thousand years old (in Earth years). So why does he want Mia and why is she so drawn to him? Quickly Mia finds herself thrown into a world she doesn’t completely understand, which technology beyond anything Earth has ever seen before. Will Mia follow her heart or will she betray the only lover she has ever had? When I first read the description for this book I thought I was going to like it. It turns out that I didn’t just like it, I LOVED it. The world that Anna Zaires created was brilliant. Once I started the book I couldn’t put it down. I literally started and finished this book in the same day. It was that good! I can honestly say that I am looking forward to next month when Close Obsession is released. I received this book from the author for an honest review.

I loved everything about this book! It's a sci-fi romance set in New York in what seems like a few years in the future. Prior to the start of the book, Earth has been taken over by a mysterious race of aliens from another galaxy. Aliens who are responsible for the origin of life on Earth and human evolution, no less! The world-building is really good, even though we don't get to learn too much about the Krinar yet. The glimpses that we do get of their science/technology/medicine are very intriguing. Mia is a college student in New York who hasn't had much contact with the invaders (not many humans have - the aliens live in their own "centers"). She's enjoying a spring day in the park when she catches the eye of one of these aliens. Korum is immediately taken with her and begins to pursue her. Actually, it's more like stalking because she's afraid of him and his kind, but she's extremely attracted to him too. Despite her reluctance to be involved with him, she ends up becoming his lover, and their relationship is very intense. She hates him and the way he took over her life, yet she can't resist him and she slowly begins to fall for him. To make matters worse, she doesn't know his ultimate intentions and she agrees to help the resistance (a group of humans who want to get rid of the aliens) by spying on him. Their relationship was hot, and I couldn't help but feel bad for Mia. To me, she's the epitome of a regular girl caught up in a scary situation. She's cautious and smart (no TSTL here), and she has no idea if Korum is a good guy or not. She's inclined to think not, because of the arrogant way he's treated her and the mystery that surrounds the invaders. She doesn't trust him and I think she's completely justified in that. I would've felt the same in her shoes. She didn't roll over and go along with everything he wanted nor did she stupidly resist him. Instead, she played along just enough while secretly trying to liberate herself and her people. Korum was a very confusing character, a bit of an anti-hero actually. He's domineering and controlling, yet he's also tender with her and takes care of her. I was fascinated with him and couldn't imagine what it must be like to be with someone like that. He gave her a lot, but he also completely dominated her life. I couldn't stop reading this book. It was just so gripping and I was so sad that it ended. I need the next book asap!

I got this book during a promotion during storm Sandy. This book literally helped me weather this horrible storm. I was grateful I had a flashlight and my kindle was fully charged because my power had gone out. This was an extremely unique read. Awesome world building, showing non cliché post invasion earth, where everyone almost seems to be better off. The relationship between Mia and Korum was believable – given their background and circumstances under which they met, their respective ages etc.The book reads very fast read, which is great but the bad part was it was over so quickly. I highly recommend it and looking forward to the sequel.

This is a story about love, sex, and how two lovers can talk with each other by language of passion. But one "small" detail, one of the lovers grew up on another planet. He is a very old and dangerous. I started reading with a skeptical mind but wasnt able to put the book down. The book kept me to the end and I cannot wait to read continuation.

I loved and enjoyed reading the intriguing, captivating, suspenseful, romantic love story Close Liaisons (Krinar Chronicles: Volume 1) by the talented Anna Zaires. Mia is a college student who becomes involved with a Krinar, an alien. The Krinars invaded the Earth five years ago and were met with resistance which ended in bloodshed of human lives. Now, there is a peace treaty between the Krinars and humans. Mia's relationship with Korum is full of sexual attraction and hot and steamy intimate scenes. There is a small Resistance of humans and some Krinars which Mia feels guilty getting involved with as she begins falling for Korum. Will the Resistance get the Krinars and Korum to leave Earth? Will there be bloodshed on both sides? What if Korum finds out her involvement? Read the highly recommended, beautifully written, romantic love story of Korum and Mia in Volume 1 of the series.

Anna Zaire's first installment in the Krinar Series is a great new story about a very intelligent alien species with mystery, suspense, and love. The authors descriptions draw you in but leave you in a space of suspense, building tension, mystery and desire that grow gradually but delightfully.  Mia's "capture" makes her challenge her belief in herself society and where her loyalties lie in the human race.  Does she help the resistance and go against the man she is falling for.  His dark hair and eyes, dark skin, and hard body.  The authors descriptions make you want to be her, experiencing confusion, passion, and fear.  Don't wait to get this first installment in a series that is bound to make you want more in all areas of life.

What would really happen if aliens invade the Earth? Well according to Anna Zaires and her novel Close Liaisons, The Krinar Chronicles book #1, it wont be anything like the end of the world. Ms. Zaires pictures and end to bacon and french fries (which might as well be the end of the world) and an increase in whole grain bread consumption but no grand battles and no UFO blowing up the White House.  Close Liaisons takes place 5 years after K Day the day the Krinar make themselves known to the people of Earth. Korum is a powerful and influential member of the Krinar and the day he meets Mia, a philology student at NYU, in Central Park both of their lives change forever. We have a rather intriguing tale of lust, hate, powerful sex, spying, deception, love, and power. A sci-fi tale with just a twist of paranormal, the sex is at times bordering on dubious consent but is plentiful and powerful for both Mia and Korum. I like my sci-fi with a little less environmental/vegetarian preaching but the story is very well written the descriptiveness and the world building post K day is all amazing.    We are left with a lot unanswered and I am thrilled to have the next book in the series, Close Obsession, to be read and reviewed in the not to distant future.

An entertaining read. Imaginative, but not much action...well, except for the sex. The characters are pretty simple, like the plot... but all in all a nice story.
