Love this book! It has introduced us to a new character from the great minds of Iris Johanson and her son. Love Ms. Johanson's Eve Duncan series and love the stuff she and her son have written together also . This did not disappoint.
A story of a woman who was born blind but received sight later through stem cell procedure, she has learned over the years to use all of her senses to a much higher level than most people. Top that off with her now being able to see and wanting to make sure she visually takes in ALL of her surroundings as well as her other heightened senses and you get someone with an almost Sherlock Holmes mentality where she makes observations No One else sees. She gets sucked into helping the FBI solve a missing person's case of an ex-lover. It is nonstop action from there.
If you enjoy other stories from these two, I must say that this is a wonderful start to a new series. Great character introductions. Keep them coming!!!!!!
To the reviewer with the same background as the main character, this is a fictional story. She has had her sight back for several years, and there was some mention of her struggles when she first gained her sight. Keep in mind that this is just the start of a new series. We haven't yet touched on all her past years of turmoil. Let the character develop. Also, I think the character is supposed to be almost superhero-like with her perceptions. That would be the point as to why she is so exceptional!
Can't wait for the next one!!!

Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.I don't usually read the mystery/suspense kind of book but I had read some of Iris Johansen's romance books and liked her writing so when I saw this book I thought I'd give it a try. I am glad I did. I thought the book was great and story just flowed along with the right kinds of twists and turns. I liked the main character although some thought she was rude I did not think so. She was in a man's world and they had verbally beat her up in the past so she was not letting it happen again. I thought her way of dealing with things was just right for the character. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and would read another one from Iris and her son Roy Johansen.

As a perso n with a vision impairment and a stem cell transplant to restore some vision, this character was totally unreal. Almost a super hero with uncanny abilities when, in fact, restored vision after blindness is rarely so perfect. And, no immuno suppressants for the stem cells? No struggles to adapt to restored vision? This book is a fluff fill in book and not up to the research standards of the authors. A crock to anyone who really knows the struggles that blindness and surgical restoration of vision really entails.
