PARANORMAL ROMANCE NOVELLA
From the author of the Bestselling Mageri Series

The same hand that had cut a man's throat just hours earlier was now holding a life that would slip through his own fingers like tiny grains of sand. Kane was faced with making a choice, and each came with a consequence that would wreck him forever.

Kane never believed in things like fate or karma. Not until the night he took a life.

Within the human world is a secret society of immortals and gifted supernaturals. Kane is one of them--a Sensor who experiences emotional energy through touch. But despite his good looks and easy-going personality, Kane lives a solitary life. Unlike other Sensors, he is unnaturally hypersensitive.

Touch brings pain.

Fate throws a curveball when a woman's life is placed in his hands. Kane is suddenly faced with a difficult decision, each with its own moral consequence, and time is not on his side.

Will she be his salvation, or his ruination?

I am a huge Dannika dark fan and love the world she has created,

I am a huge Dannika dark fan and love the world she has created, so when I saw this novella, I knew I had to read it.  Of the many things I love about this story, one of the things I love the most is that it is a story in and of itself and you do not need to have reads her Impulse series to enjoy it.  Why do I love that?  Because it gives people an opportunity to dive into her world without the feeling that they are committing to a series.  Mind you, you will probably want to read the series after reading this novella.  There is some slight overlap in that one of the characters has a sibling in the Mageri series, but that will not cause any confusion when reading this story.

I do not know how to say what I want to say without giving too much away, so pardon my vagueness with this next bit.  I think the way they initially communicate and get to know each other is what makes the story as powerful as it it.  The situation is all kinds of messed up and yet these two people find each other and the possibility of happiness.  Something each had given up on in the past.

The ending is brilliant.  Not because it solves some big mystery, but because it is more realistic than I was afraid it would be and it leaves many doors open for the characters while at the same time being a very satisfying ending.  I will admit that I hope we see these characters entering into the Impulse universe, but if they do not, I feel like I know enough.

This is not a YA read.  It is for the 18 plus crowd.  It is not graphic, but the content, especially how they meet, is not for younger readers.  If you love this novella, please give her Mageri series a go.  You will not be disappointed.

    more from this reviewer

Kane is a sensitive. Every touch gives him the feelings and emot

Kane is a sensitive. Every touch gives him the feelings and emotions of those around him. Never trained to control these emotions, he has isolated himself from physical touch.

He accidently has contact with a man on the street and immediately feels his evil intent (this man has murdered and enjoyed killing women). Deciding to take matters into his own hands, Kane kills this man. Now he takes the man's car in attempt to hide his actions...little did he know that in the trunk was his next victim.

Closer was amazing Novella. Most of the story is during a mental link with another character in the story. I can not give anymore away but at around 80% in I hit the AW, crap this book is going to make me cry. With tears running down my face I ended this story, and if a novella length story can bring that kind of emotion out of me its getting 5 HUGE STARS!

    I¿m a huge fan of Dannika Dark¿s ¿Mageri Series¿ and was extreme

I’m a huge fan of Dannika Dark’s “Mageri Series” and was extremely excited to find out that she had written a Novella and of course it was a must read!

This novella is set within the Mageri World but not specifically within the world. Yeah, I know that sounds a bit 'weird' or 'odd' but once you read it, you'll totally get what I'm saying!! We do learn more about the society’s view of “differences” within their own breeds. This brings an interesting perspective on how we treat each other our bias and how we judge others.

“Closer” is about two individuals who may not have ever met if it weren't for the circumstances they were thrown into and how they assist each other to survive and learn that they are not the only ones who are different.

Lots of emotions. WOW! Seriously WOW! Emotional roller coaster. I was extremely impressed on just how complete/full this story was considering it’s a novella! You wanted there to be more, not because something was left out or it had a cliff hanger, but because you wanted to know more about Kane and Caroline!

“Closer” can be read as part of the Mageri Series or as a standalone novella. Though I’m sure that if you haven’t read the Mageri Series, once you read this novella, you’re going to want to!

Dannika Does It Again -- Keep Writing and I'll Keep Reading!

What happened to Sunny's missing brother and why hasn't he kept in touch? Well, here's the story and it has some interesting revelations in it. This is a short book but helps tie some missing pieces together. When will he show up in Sunny's live again--that is a story for another day....
