Closing The Door: Why We Need to Move On in Education & Life
Call me assumptive, but I believe the reason you down- loaded book is because you have been or are going through a rough patch. It can be in your career, in your own life, or even someone else's. You've heard all of the cliches, and you've googled every possible quote, and even took some mental health days. Nothing seems to help. You are giving this e-book one more chance because it's cheap or free.
No worries. This book will not change your life, it will not guide you towards some crazy crusade, and it won't ask for money. It will give you a glimpse into simplistic truths, give some easy takeaways that you can incorporate into your life, and even talk about some of the haters and trolls that probably got you where you are in your head.
I'll weave in lots of examples, all of which either come from me or some of my closest of friends. I've been in education for 15 years; if I even tried to make some of this stuff up, I'd quit and start my career in the soap opera business.
Lastly, I will share a plethora of resources that you can refer to at anytime you are feeling down, need advice, or just need to vent. This thing called the internet has all kinds of tomfoolery on it, and it turns out there is a meaningful re- source on it, not just memes of cats and fake news. So, now that you know this isn't a mushy book, let's go!

About the Author

Superintendent Jay Eitner is a proud product of the New Jersey public schools. A graduate from Union High School in 1997, Jay attended The American University in Washington DC with a BA in interdisciplinary studies. He began his teaching career in Roselle, NJ teaching a variety of subjects, including social studies, computers, and literacy. Known for being ‘outside of the box’ and for strong technology infusion, Eitner strived to make a learning environment that was both student-centered and data driven. Jay received his Masters Degree in 2004 and was hired to teach 8th-grade social studies in the nationally recognized East Brunswick Public Schools. During his time in East Brunswick, Eitner has written and received over $140,000 in grants for his students. Grants ranged from podcasting equipment to creating a fully-interactive goldrush experience, where students dug for gold during their westward expansion unit. Jay obtained his supervisor, principal, and school administrator certificates from the NJPSA NJ-EXCEL program in 2009. Administratively, Eitner has served as a middle school Assistant Principal in the Washington Township Schools, a K-12 Supervisor of Social Studies for the Hopewell Valley Regional School District. Eitner has been a Superintendent of Schools in two districts: Lower Alloways Creek and the Waterford Township Schools, both in southern New Jersey. He was the 2015 educators choice pick for the national Superintendent of the Year for the BAMMY awards.

Jay’s blog can be found at www.JayEitner.com and can be followed on Twitter under the name @Jay_Eitner. He also has published a series of Flash-Reads on Amazon.com and hosts a monthly podcast available on iTunes and Google Play.
