Life for the townspeople was delicious until the weather took a turn for the worse. The food got larger and larger and so did the portions. Chewandswallow was plagued by damaging floods and storms of huge food. The town was a mess and the pople feared for their lives.
Something had to be done, and in a hurry.

Life is delicious in the town of Chewandswallow where it rains soup and juice, snows mashed potatoes, and blows storms of hamburgers--until the weather takes a turn for the worse.

    highy recommended

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

This story starts off with a grandfather who tells his grandchildren about a town called Chewandswollow. This looks like any other town at first glance, but there are no grocery stores and restaurants have no kitchen. This town has crazy weather 3 times a day at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It rains eggs and bacon or hamburgers every kind of food one can think of. Life in this town was wonderful for the people until one day it took turn for the worse. During one of the meals the food started to get bigger and bigger. It started to crush cars and buildings. A giant pancake fell on the school so children could not attend. Food that didn't go together stared to fall. They were in the middle of a huge food storm. The town's people didn't know what to do should they stay or should they evacuate their beloved town. And how should the leave their town of Chewandswollow. Read this book and see what happens to this town you won't be sorry.
This is a great fun story for children of any age. It has great and colorful illustrations that all children will enjoy. This book could be used for in class activities from kindergarten to 5th grade. This book would be a great to do a whole unit plan on. One suggestion is a lesson on food groups students can learn about the different food groups and see how many of those food groups were represented in the story. Another lesson can be done on. Another good lesson would be on weather. Students can learn about the different types of weather factors associated with the types of weather and they can predict the weather for the next week. These are just a few suggestions of lessons for this book but the possibilities are endless.

    The weirdest book

I like this book because iy's a bedtime story to me. It's about two kids that get their grandpa to tell them a bedtime story. The bedtime story is about that every day it rains food and drinks. But the food keeps getting bigger and bigger and it gets out of control.

    ELMER'S BOOK REVIEW-3RD GRADE

This book is about a small town that gets their food from the sky and Grandpa's telling the story. It took place through one ocean, one huge mountain, three hot deserts, and one smaller ocean to a town called Chewandswallow, and Grandpa was there when a horrible thing happened. My favorite part of this book was when a pancake fell on top of the school and they had to close it down. I liked the pictures because they were creative and well drawn. I rate this book a nine out of ten and two thumbs up. If you like funny, entertaining, very weird books, I would recommend this book to you. This book is't hard or easy it's medium so you would like it. The best thing is taht my little sister and brother get an imagination on what the story is about and it's easy for my brother and sister to read. So if you read this book I hope you enjoy, and also if you look very closely in the book, you could find Grandpa.

    My favorite book

This is a book I grew up on and have passed down to my children and they have enjoyed it as well since it is silly and imaginative. It used to be a pretty diffifult book for me to read when I was younger but it helped put me to the challenge of reading at an advanced level.

This book has stuck with me from childhood! It was the first boo

This book has stuck with me from childhood! It was the first book I bought to share with my kids before I even had them! It's now my kids favorite book that I am asked to read at least once a week! We love the illustrations, we have to pause many times while reading because they want to look at the many creative details in the pictures! This book  is a wonderfully imaginative story that the whole family will enjoy! My 14 year old will even join us for story time when he knows I'm reading this book! Hope you enjoy it as much as my family has for generations!

    Favorite kids book

This is my favorite book from childhood. I love the illustrations, I was disappointed that the movie looked so vastly different from the book I couldn't bring myself to watch it. This is a must have in book collection!
