Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Jennie DeGenaro
If you enjoy farcical books and movies, you will enjoy this read. Not only is this story in book form, it is also a movie and a video game. Flint, the protagonist, is an inventor, who started his career as a young child. His father owns "Tim's Tackle Shop" and wishes his only child would work for him in the shop. He would like Flint to give up his ridiculous idea of being an inventor. Flint continues to invent various objects, but unfortunately nothing ever succeeds and he becomes the laughing stock of the town. But, Flint continues to try one invention after another. Various characters in the town add to the humor of the story. One of his inventions, which the title almost gives away, is the heart of the book. Flint meets Sam, a weather girl, and to find out how this relationship develops, you must read the book. Also, learn how Flint is instrumental in changing the name of his home town. This humorous story is one boys and girls are sure to enjoy. You may want to read the original book that was written by Judi Barrett and Ron Barrett. Reviewer: Jennie DeGenaro

    My son loved this book

My son read this book for one of his fourth-grade book reports. He loved it. He hasn't seen the movie yet--I wanted him to understand the story line without the benefit of having seen the movie.
