This book is really meant for little hands, but the text is more complex than most toddlers can handle. It is really more appropriate for a first or second grade reader. The clownfish is a pretty creature, but also has some unusual characteristics. It can live among the poisonous sea anemone due to a special coating on its body. When she finds a mate they prepare a clean nest. Once the eggs are laid, the mate guards the eggs and when storm danger threatens the pair work together to protect the eggs. On the seventh day the eggs hatch and the baby fish swim away. The final page contains some very interesting facts about these creatures including their symbiotic relationship with the sea anemone.
