    An interesting read

    I sort of liked the book. It was a bit hot; however, there was one thing I just did not understand: The main character goes for a walk in a park (or some place) and is by water and starts thinking of her old life and cries--but, a little later is happy with her current life! What was the crying about? Anyway, Ms. Joseph is a very good writer so don't pass this one up.

    Not her best but still worth a read. (spoiler alert)

    I have read other novels by Annbel Joseph that I have enjoyed more than Club Mephisto. I felt as if whole sections that showed day to day events in Molly's relationship with her master were edited from the final copy. Additionally, throughout the book, Mephisto's character remained an enigma, especially when his character appeared to do an about face in his behavior and relationship with Molly.
