Also, since this is a three-CD package, it is not exactly inexpensive. However, the music in settings ranging from trios to quintets with tenorman Maxwell Davis is quite enjoyable, falling between swing-oriented jazz and early R&B. Many of the three ...

Many of the three artists' early hits are here including Cole's "Sweet Lorraine" and Brown's "Drifting Blues", and the enjoyable release can act as an introduction to the music of these popular singers/pianists. However, completists should look elsewhere.
