Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
Gr 1–3—This whimsical picture book follows Cocorina and her three little chicks to the Garden of Mirrors. Although the hen does some clumsy things like watching a fly instead of what's on the stove, she is endearing. Blanconejose, a white rabbit with a waistcoat, appears on the scene and guides the chicks and their mother through the garden, explaining the meaning of each of the mirrors. The crystal lake reflects the image of Quiquirino, the father of the chicks and the love of Cocorina's life, who is away at sea. The family will never forget the outing because it has been a day of magic and happiness for them. The illustrations are quite fanciful and bright and go along well with the fanciful story. The book would be a good fit for teachers who are introducing tales like Alice in Wonderland. It will be especially significant for children whose parents work far away from home.—Cindy Moreno, San Antonio Public Library, TX
