Forever and Ever

A fast paced hospital ER, a broken marriage, child services about to take children away from a mother desperately trying to do her best, a hospital shooting, and the "other" woman who will stop at nothing to get the man that she wants. This is just the beginning of the action in Code Triage. I especially love Nick, the policeman who made a big mistake. He is devastated and trying to restore the broken relationships that happened as a direct result of his reckless behavior. Overall, this is a great story of human failure, second chances and the faithfulness of a God who is always there, even when we aren't looking for Him. Full of action and heartache, Code Triage is a very interesting exposure to the personal lives of police and health professionals.

Amazing Medical Drama- Better than Any TV Show!

Help me! I need a prescription STAT! Because I seriously addicted to Candace Calvert's Medical Hope series fiction!
The pace, action, romance, suspense, drama, characters, faith, story! I could go on and on about the things I love about this book (or the entire series).
There is something about a medical drama that yanks at my attention. I don't have to understand the medical terms to get the anxiety of the moment. I don't have to intimately know a hospital to see the staff and workings, the drama or the tension, it is all plainly explained before my eyes, infused with a great story to make it stand up and stand out! And no inappropriate, gag worthy moments prevalent in the television medical industry!
How often do you come across a romance between a married couple? But oh the love story swept me away. It didn't have to be overtly romantic to make me swoon, the characters themselves explode from the page with a romance all their own. And combine a gorgeous, tormented couple and you have a recipe for a great love story with plenty of turmoil.
Emotions run high, with a drug crazed father, a woman determined to claim the man she lusts after and enough medical drama to go around. I can't get enough! I highly recommend this work of excellent fiction!

Review of Code Triage by Candace Calvert

On the cover of "Code Triage" there is a quote from best-selling author, Irene Hannon. She says "If you need an infusion of hospital drama, 'Code Triage' is just the prescription". I found that her recommendation most definitely rings true. Action packed and emotionally charged from beginning to end, this book was a thoroughly enjoyable read. I especially enjoyed Calvert's amazing cast of secondary characters; this author has mad skills when it comes to character development! I actually found myself at the end thinking . "well, okay, so I'm glad Nick and Leigh get their happy ending, but what about Kristi . or Caro . or Riley? Good grief, what happens to the horse?!"

My only complaint about this book is that I didn't read the other two that came before it in the Mercy Hospital series. A couple of times in the midst of the story, especially during the epilogue, I felt like I was missing some important insider information.

My Favorite of Her Books so far!

I have read all three of Mrs Calvert's books and this is my favorite. I am an ED worker and her technology rings true but doesn't seem too much detail for the average reader. The theme of marriage on the rocks is common in our society - Christian or secular. All marriages struggle and Mrs Calvert provides good theology for remaining in marriage even though it is tough. I also really like that she deals discreetly but honestly with the physical aspects of feeling in love and marriage (excitement, struggle, temptation). Nothing is untoward but the physical excitement of being attracted to Nick is acknowledged and not just glossed over.

I have lots in common emotionally with Leigh and several of Mrs Calvert's spiritual points hit home with me without being preachy.
I am excited for the next in the series to come out!

A wonderful conclusion to this great medical series!

I love a good medical drama and I must confess that Candace's are my favorites. She is so good at combining medical drama, along with friendships, romance, suspense, and great messages! And I do love a great series! This book and this series is a perfect example of why I would much rather sit down in the evening and open a good book rather than turn on the TV.

I VERY highly recommend this book to anyone. It's well written and highly entertaining. The story grabs you from the start and keeps you hooked until the very end. The characters will steal your heart, and the message will keep you thinking long after you've finished the book.

Did you know that hospitals uses special codes to address doctors during the emergency so that the situation does not create mass panic and avoid misunderstandings in the hospital among patients and visitors?
Well, I didn't know until I read Code Triage, The Third Book in The Mercy Hospital series, written by Candace Calvert.Code Triage is a very exhilarating and a moving Medical Fiction. It's about Dr. Leigh Stathos. She works in the ER, and she's usually emotionally detached from her patients. Her motto is treat em, street em, and she shed no tears or laugh with her patients. She's the healing machine who works tirelessly to save lives.One day, the unexpected happens. A single mother and her two children are admitted with carbon monoxide poisoning, and she soon discovered that this woman was the one who ruin her marriage. Things gets worst. The police officer who had been assigned to this case is none other than her ex-husband, Nick.Leigh is determined to put the past and her marriage behind her, but when a gunman enters the hospital and opens fire and the hospital issues Code Triage, her emotional barriers are torn down as she and the ER team are forced to treat co-workers injured in the shooting - and the man who pulled the trigger.I cried when I read this book. Why? Because I how it feels like to be a wife who is forced to experience firsthand the infidelity of her husband and having third party in the marriage. I felt for Leigh.how tortured it is to see other woman exists in your husband's heart. It's heart wrenching, and it's a fate that I won't even wish on the dogs on the street.I couldn't blame Dr. Leigh for feeling resentful towards the other woman and could not forgive the other woman. There's a part where Leigh questioned the other woman if "Is sorry enough?" when the other woman apologized to her.I feel for her. After all, that other woman did wreck her marriage, and for me. forgiveness does not come easy, especially when you're just human and have been hurt by the one that you loved.Imagine the one who swear before God to love you, to honour you, to protect you til the day you die breaks the vow that he made for another person, and left you for it, and protected the other person instead, uncaring of how you felt? I really can't blame Leigh when she wants divorce and wants nothing but out of the marriage. It's understandable that one wouldn't want to be hurt by her loved one when she have an option not to continue hurting.
It is so emotional for me to read Code Triage. It reminds me of so many things, and made me reflect on choices many women have to make in this modern era where divorce is an option when a marriage crumbles.
In this book, the issue of 'ripple' effect of divorce is also discussed, and Leigh and Nick is forced to face it.This book also made me think that during the hard times and when you're betrayed, the only one you can depend is not human, but God. God will lead you into light, and will keep you safe. He knows what's the best for you, and He made you see that sometimes, when bad things happens. it happens for a reason, and more often than not, it happens because He wants you to have faith in Him, and be closer to him.Code Triage is not only a good story, but it's also very close to home. I would recommend this to both wives, and also home-wreckers to read. A very touching and moving story.I received this book from Tyndale House Publishers for an advance reading as part of their bloggers review program

Great Hospital Drama

I've heard such awesome things about this series that I was thrilled when Tyndale sent me this book to review.

This is a very realistically written hospital drama (some scenes had me on the edge of my chair wondering what would happen next while another section detailed a patient's allergy problems). It had these great characters that I truly was pulling for, realistic problems and struggles that they had been facing up to this point and even into their seven days and even some mystery.

I think I liked Nick best. Before you ask, no it didn't have a thing to do with the fact that he's a great cook, brave, good with kids, and have you looked at that cover? :op lol

If I was nit-picking, I would have to say I thought the time line wasn't realistic. A lot is packed into seven short days and without giving away the ending, that's about all I can say on that subject. The writing was first rate and even the secondary characters were outstanding.


This was a great book for people who love hospital dramas especially.

My Review:

In the latest Mercy Hospital series of novels by Candace Calvert, Code Triage doesn't disappoint. I found myself riveted the each page wondering just how this story would end.

Dr. Leigh Stathos has discovered her husband is a man who is set in his ways from marriage to family to the purchase of a dining room table for their new home and when Leigh struggles to find breathing room in asking for some space, she soon discovers that he breaks their marriage vows and sleeps with another woman, who was grieving the loss of her brother and Nick's best friend. Now waiting for their marriage to finally be over on October 3rd, she finds that just seeing him reminds her that her feelings for him aren't over just yet.

During an unusual series of circumstances that will involve all three at Golden Gate Mercy, all three of them will be tested in not only how much do they really love one another, but will faith stand the test of time as well?

I received this amazing, heart-pounding, page turning novel compliments of Tyndale House Publishers for my honest review. This one is hands down a perfect 5 out of 5 stars and I can't wait to go back and read the other novels in the series as well. For me, Candace Calvert knows her subject when it comes to hospitals and characters and really immerses you in their lives through her writing. I would love to see her writing become a movie or a TV series, its really that amazing!

Best Yet

I have enjoyed each of this author's books, but Code Triage topped the other two. The romance is a complex triangle involving an almost divorced couple and the husband's former lover. It's questionable until the end what the outcome will be. But what I found most gripping was the hidden scars each character carried. With the depths of pain involved, could it even be possible to reach healing and a point of wholeness where true love can blossom? And the medical scenes are gripping. There's enough detail to make them seem real, yet not enough technicalities to bog them down. Reading the book is like watching an episode of ER with all the drama and real life tension of a hospital emergency room. A great read that offers more than romance with a spiritual thread.

Candace Calvert at her best!

I can't lie that I didn't like this book very well.I didn't like it, well, simply because I loved it! When you read a Candace Calvert novel you can't go wrong. Code Triage is book 3 in her Mercy Hospital series and it accentuates the other two PERFECTLY.

I love the messages that Candace adds to her books, and the heros and heroines that she constructs with her love and care. It's amazing to read a book like this and feel like it is really happening, right in front of you.

This particular novel has everything from crime, to drama, to romance and a smidgen of mystery. But the overall message from God about second chances and His redeeming love. A wonderful thrilling new novel to unwind with at the end of a stressful day.

I highly, highly recommend this new novel to everyone out there in the reading world. You want want to miss the other books by this author, either!

An outstanding reading experience

Golden Gate Mercy emergency room Dr. Leigh Stathos is divorcing her husband San Francisco cop Nick after he had an affair last year with Samantha Gordon, his late best friend Toby's sister. She knows she still loves him, but cannot get pass her mom's adage that nothing lasts forever. Nick knows he made a monster mistake when he slept with Sam while each grieved their loss and wants to rectify it, but adheres to his wife's wishes of no contact.

When he rescues a single mom and her two young children from carbon monoxide poisoning, Nick and Leigh meet at the hospital. He has seven days to persuade his beloved to give him another chance, but though time is running out, Nick refuses to give up on his marriage as he prays to God to help him come home. As situations bring the still married couple together, Leigh reconsiders a second chance especially with her secret she concealed from her spouse. When she is on duty Sam is rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

The latest Mercy Hospital medical thriller (see Critical Care and Disaster Status) is loaded with action from start to finish, but also contains a strong relationship drama between the two first responders and Sam; especially fascinating is when Sam gets into Leigh's face. Readers will enjoy Code Triage as obstinate Nick refuses to quit on his faith or his woman.
