Coffee at Midnightby Kara Patrice Jones
Pulled out of her life like a fish out of water, a penguin out of Antarctica, Charlotte Ware doesn't welcome her new place of residence, Ares, with open arms. And neither does Ares welcome her. At least until he shows up, the silhouette that leads her to the club Coffee at Midnight, a Christian club that counsels teenagers through their problems while learning about God. As a new Christian, swaying under the weight of the lightest breeze, Charlotte wants in, and she wants it now. Only Aaron Porter stands in her way when he refuses to nominate her for induction unless she wins at the Hi game, but perhaps his reluctance is very justified. For this covert club is manmade, and everything manmade has flaws. It breaks, it malfunctions, it bends, it hurts-
And the silhouette knows it.
Despite how seriously Charlotte takes the club, memorizing every law scribbled in the club's handbook, Charlotte finds herself in marked territory, defending herself with all she has: blackmail, secrets, and threats.
It's not Christian-like at all, but the alternative, well, that is much worse.
Discover why legalism and Christianity don't mix before you find yourself in a hole that you can not dig yourself out of like Charlotte, who quickly learns why legalism is the destruction of Christianity.
Unfortunately for her, it's still too late.
