I have read several screenwriting books and I can say confidently that this one is the best one available. Ok why is this the best? Other screenwriting books focus on theories and what to avoid. Pilar provide you with exercises that will flush out your ideas and get your script written. Pilar does provide you with theories as well but she focuses on getting your script written and making it Hollywood worthy.
This book is broken down in a very effective format. Pilar provides you with ways to allow the story, characters, or flaws write your script. If you put it all together you have a grade A+ script. She first tells you how these elements can write your script, why it works, and how to approach it. She then introduces you to a take ten exercise. Completing these exercises will basically write your script for you and amazes me that someone didn't try to prevent her from releasing this secret. I mean she makes it so simple by using these exercises that anyone can become a great writer.
Pilar's reason for writing this book is to help the busy writer. The person who can barely find time to do anything. This is obviously something Pilar went through because if you listen to her podcast; On the Page, she is a very busy women and has been for years.
I highly recommend this book to screenwriters. This book is almost like a handout because of how Pilar makes the process of screenwriting easy on every level.
