Hunting For A Killer...

Detective Erin Donovan expects life to quiet down after the arrest and conviction of a serial rapist who terrified her university town last summer. Then two young women are brutally slain and the murders bear all the hallmarks of the campus rapist. Did Erin arrest an innocent man? Now her job is at stake and tensions are high and just when it looks like things can’t get worse, her department gets the help it needs to solve the double homicide—in the form of a man Erin has never been able to forget.

Who Doesn't Play By The Rules.

FBI Agent Darsh Singh has no interest in reliving the past. Three years ago, his feelings for Erin Donovan had him breaking all his rules about getting involved. Now his only interest in the former NYPD detective is figuring out if she screwed up a rape investigation and helped send an innocent man to prison. But being forced to work together rekindles their old attraction, and as Darsh and Erin fall for each other, the campus predator fixates on Erin. The race is on to identify the ruthless killer before he makes Erin his final victim.

I love second chance stories this one not all things were as they seemed. Not the right questions were asked leaving two people heartbroken. One man goes to jail leaving a whole town in an uproar. Erin was doing her job found the guilty and put him behind bars. Time past with a whole town hating her than the unthinkable happens more women are rape and end up dead with the same MO did she put the wrong man behind bars leaving the killer free to kill again? FBI Darsh is sent in to make sure any wrongs are made right as well as to see if Erin might have jumped the gun putting the wrong man in prison. I love the suspense and intrigue of the story along with their past one nightstand leaving misunderstandings and an almost a hate but still attracted to each other. The killer will keep you guessing as your heart breaks for the women killed by a sick man. This killer is no dummy he has out smarted us all and got away with it, just maybe he will think he is to smart and make a mistake leaving the jailed free and him behind bars or could this be a totally another crime maybe a copycat? Mr. Dove as always does a wonderful job of narration giving you the emotions and facts that bring this story to life. There are no background noises or any place where the volume was higher or lower what he gives you is a wonderful smooth listen you get lost in. If any breaks were taken you could not tell. His male and female voices slide right off his tongue you never are left guessing who is speaking or what their feelings are. You can feel the heartbreak and the anger of those that feel and injustice was done as well how each main character feels. He gives you likeable voices with an audio you won’t want to put down. I love the characters it was so nice to go back a see some that you have gotten to know. The suspense is wonderful leaving you guessing and as normal you are wrong. This one took me awhile to work out. I love the attraction between the characters and the pull at the heart with their past. Erin past is one you can relate to as the author put the words to the page she grabs your heart but does it in a style you can relate to and with class. The plot is wonderful leaving you in suspense as you can see it happening in your mind. This is a college town where young man are looking for action some taking what they want even when the answer might be no. This was a wonderful addition to the series with wonderful narration. I can’t wait for the next one in the series.

Cold Justice Book Six After recovering from the conviction of a serial rapist in a small university town, tragedy strikes again with the gruesome murder of the former rapist's girlfriend. Now the FBI is called in to determine if the two crimes are connected. Agent Darsh Singh must figure out who the new killer is and if the detective of the rape case could have made a mistake. Detective Erin Dononvan is horrified at the thought that she put away an innocent man, but still believes that he was the culprit. In a town where most of the population hates her, Erin is still intent on protecting the residents of her town. Audio Review: Eric G. Dove narrates this series and distinguishes the characters well. He doesn't over-dramatize the actions of the characters, but lets the story play out. In a mystery, this type of narration is key. If you're looking for a twisty-turny mystery with a bit of romance thrown in, this is the book for you! Copy gifted by the Publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I haven't read any of Ms. Anderson's books before now, but she just got added to my list of go-to authors for romantic suspense. COLD HEARTED checks all the boxes for me because it's just that good. A gripping story, intricate plot, spine-tingling, edge of the seat suspense as well as a romance between complex characters that will have you strongly rooting from them to find their happy ending. Detective Erin Donovan left her painful past behind to start over at the police department in small town Forbes Pine but it's been an underwhelming experience so far, especially since she became the most hated person in town after the college's quarterback was convicted for rape based on her investigation. When a double homicide turns up a victim with similarities to the previous crimes, Forbes Pines is once again thrown into the spotlight and Erin has to face the possibility that she sent an innocent man to jail. In order to quell rising tensions, FBI Agent Darsh Singh is sent in to assist with the investigation and run a parallel investigation on Erin to determine if her previous investigation was above board. With a smart and manipulative killer fixated on Erin on the loose, will Erin and Darsh be able to put their less than pleasant past history and the uncontrollable chemistry between them on the back burner and focus on unraveling the case? Or will the killer best them in this cat and mouse game and claim more victims including Erin? I adore Erin and Darsh so much. They are two imperfect people struggling with personal challenges but dedicated to the law even at a personal cost. Erin is strong and resileint, but also quite stubborn, but Darsh is smooth and more diplomatic, and he stole my heart with the way he supported Erin and defended her. The chemistry between them was fiery hot and irresistible and provided a heartwarming moment for me in the midst of the tense suspnse. COLD HEARTED is a perfect balance of romance and suspense and nothing is overdone or lacking. Ms. Anderson's writing is top-notch and thought-provoking and I can honestly say that I loved this book so much I would give more than five stars, if it was possible. I loved this book! It was exciting! Small college town detective arrested the quarterback for rape becoming the most hated person in town. A few months later, 2 more girls are raped and murdered with evidence pointing to the jailed quarterback. The FBI is brought in to make sure the detective didn't screw up the first case. The agent they send has a history with the detective. A single night of passion 3 years before that neither has forgotten. It makes for great sexual tension while they solve this case. I love how the book is more about the solving of the murders with a little romance thrown in. It was the perfect balance. I will definitely be reading the previous 5 books in this series and look forward to number 7! -read by Mrs Undercover with Pop Fizz Clink Read

Cold hearted was again another cant put down read by Toni Anderson ! When murder appears to be linked to a previously solved serial rape case, it turns the occupants of this quiet university town against detective Erin Donovan. As the story unfolds she begins to question whether or not she has sent an innocent young man to jail. The FBI are brought in to investigate and if things cant get any worse for Erin, the agent assigned to the case Darsh Singh is the last person Erin wants to see. Erin and Darsh are forced to overcome the past and work together to solve the case. I will tell you that for me one of the most disappointing aspects of reading murder mystery novels is that you are able to work out the killer with in the first few chapters. I will tell you that is NOT the case with Cold hearted it is a fabulous read and holds your attention right up to the last page. Do yourself a favor - Give Cold Hearted and all of the Cold Justice books a read YOU WONT REGRET IT!

Oh my goodness, I freaking loved this book! How have I not read anything by this author before now? (But--woot!--there's an audiobooks box set for books 1-3, so that's going to change ASAP:)) The pages practically turned themselves on this one--the suspense was fantastic, the mystery kept me guessing (I was sure I knew who the killer/stalker/serial rapist was about 15% in--I was wrong, and only just realized it *just* before it became glaringly obvious I was wrong! Though the real one was on my short list of alternates, at least, it definitely wasn't obvious), and the romance--a second-chance one, of sorts--was amazing! I loved both Erin and Darsh and was pulling for them to come together from the instant they showed up on the page together. Though most of the novel was from their POV, Ms. Anderson added in just enough alternate POVs (including the killer's, which was positively chilling!) to keep the story flowing seamlessly. Even though this is book 6 in the series, it worked just fine as a standalone. I'm certain that several past series characters had small parts/were mentioned, but you don't need to have read their stories before this one at all. (Though you'll undoubtedly want to. Books 4-6 will surely be the next box set to be released, yes? Because I've got to get it next!) Rating: 4 1/2 stars / A I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.

NYT Bestselling Author Toni Anderson is an auto-buy for me and I couldn’t wait to read and review COLD HEARTED, Book Six of the COLD JUSTICE series. Fans of Toni Anderson will enjoy each book in the series as a stand-alone, but together they make a compelling series with well-defined characters connected from book to book through the BAU Department of the FBI. The first thing I loved about this book is the emotional depth Ms. Anderson reached in the relationship between Detective Erin Donovan – her best heroine yet – and FBI Agent Darsh Singh. This is Ms. Anderson’s first character that is not Caucasian and she does a brilliant job portraying the life experience of a London England-born man from a Pakistani family. To date, he’s my favorite of her heroes. Darsh Singh is a man of principle, commitment, and drive. Although an alpha hero he’s fully in touch with his emotions and he’s not afraid to show them. Darsh is a leader and enjoys the challenge of working with “ball-busting women”. He’s both cerebral and a man of action. His past as a Marine Scout Sniper has left him a bit damaged but not to the extreme, which I found refreshing. Ms. Anderson keeps the tension going between these two from the first time Darsh steps on the page, teasing the reader with snippets of their past and the conflict between them. It’s an unusual conflict and she spins it out delicately throughout the story arc. Detective Erin Donovan is her most damaged heroine to date but she’s also my favorite as Ms. Anderson’s gotten better and better at portraying women police officers. Her realistic portrayal of the group dynamics of a small town police force display how on the fringe women officers still are in policing. Erin Donovan is afraid of life and relationships but without giving away any spoilers, she does something quite unexpected near the end of the book. This story touches on the ravages of domestic violence and its consequences, as well as the rape culture on many university campuses. Ms. Anderson displays victims of rape in a compassionate and realistic way. Her characters are fully realized and you root for them and their survival journey. She brings the story of a rape victim full circle as part of the resolution of the book. Ms. Anderson is a master at keeping the identity of her villains a secret until the very climax of the story. You only see him coming at the last minute when the suspense is ratcheted up to its highest level. This was a true page-turner and my only wish was that it hadn’t whipped to its ending quite so quickly. However, that’s also the measure of Ms. Anderson’s stellar writing skills. Fans of Karin Slaughter will love this series with its inter-related characters. While each book focuses on a new couple through the FBI connection, I hope in the future Ms. Anderson will consider new books bringing back some of these wonderful heroes and heroines she’s given us. I can’t get enough of them and if you have these six books on your “keeper shelf”, I’ll bet you won’t be able to either.
