Reviewed by: JoAnne Book provided by the publisher for review Review originally posted at Romancing the Book This is a novella at only seventy seven pages including a happily ever after with nice closure. The story itself has the Civil War at its core and takes place on several battlefields including Gettysburg. Cole and Clare only have brief encounters in the field since he’s a Lieutenant and she’s a field nurse. They do have chemistry from the first and it’s enjoyable to see how they both handle it. There’s battles, casualties including dead and wounded, doctors and nurses, love and letters. Much is revealed to us of their past and present and I could envision the skirmishes based on the vivid descriptions of the sights, smells and sounds. An enjoyable read but too short for me. I will give some of the author’s other books a try.
