Peters ( Colette's Cakes , LJ 8/91) was a designer at Tiffany's before starting a successful cake-designing business in New York City, and her artistic talents are evident in the elaborate, often jewellike cookies, cakes, and ornaments and decorations in her new book. Decoration is the star in this collection of whimsical fantasies, from stunning stained glass cakes to a miniature Victorian greenhouse constructed of royal icing. There are some less complicated projects, and holiday bakers will be inspired by the cut-out cookies and gift ideas--but busy cooks would probably have to start now to complete some of these creations before next year's Christmas! For most baking collections.
