A new twist in cooking; lots of fun

Collectible Meals is one of those little gems you can instantly connect with. A Collectible Meal is simply the menu of a meal shared by a famous celebrity or historic figure and the circumstances surrounding the meal. Each meal- there are about fifty of them- contains a brief discussion of the celebrity, events surrounding the meal and the complete menu. There are celebrities from Marilyn Monroe to John Wayne in the book. Historic figures include George Washington, Ronald Reagan and Gianni Versace. The cool thing about this book is that you don't really have to be a cook to present an interesting meal to your family or party guests. No recipes fill the pages; the author makes a point of saying that you can pour the meal out of a can; the menu, not the ingredients drives Collectible Meals. Many meals, like Princess Diana's or Grace Kelly's, are really very simple. For the gourmet cook, there are elaborate feasts such as the last meal on the Titanic or Washington's Farewell to Officer's dinner. There are holiday meals like Stonewall Jackson's Christmas feast for Robert E. Lee during the Civil War. Several last meals from famous condemned criminals like Ted Bundy would make a spooky Halloween dinner! This book is a short, fast read. I can't wait for the next one. It is well-written and a definite addition to my kitchen. I know I have a new hobby. Happy collecting!
