Overview

From bestselling author Gordon Korman, a second heart-stopping adventure aboard the unluckiest ship of all.

The Titanic has hit the high seas--and moves steadily toward its doom. Within the luxury of the cabins and the dark underbelly of the ship, mysteries unfold--a secret killer who may be on board, a legacy that may be jeopardized, and a vital truth that will soon be revealed. For Paddy, Sophie, Juliana, and Alfie, life on the Titanic brings both hiding and seeking, as their lives become irrevocably intertwined.

And then, of course, an iceberg appears, and the stage is set for the final scene.

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Veronica Bartles
Paddy has been discovered as a stowaway, and he is running out of places to hide from the crew. If Paddy's connections to Alfie are discovered, both Alfie and his father may lose their jobs. Juliana learns that her father's business dealings in America might mean disaster for her personally. Sophie attempts to befriend a grouchy old crippled man who hides a dangerous secret. In this second book of the "Titanic" series, the lives of these four children draw closer together, as they realize that friendship and trust do not always follow the set rules of "proper society." Korman weaves a fascinating tale into the fabric of a well-known historical event. He skillfully knits together the fictional accounts of four unlikely friends with tidbits of true history, showing the human side of the true Titanic story and spurring a desire to learn more about the Titanic and her ill-fated maiden voyage. As the 100th anniversary of the Titanic approaches, this book is a perfect lead-in for learning about the tragedy. Reviewer: Veronica Bartles

The second part of Gordon Korman's Titanic book (yes, this is really one book broken into three parts) is better than the first one but still not where it should be, based on some of his other work. The characters are still tired and trite and their character arcs have added nothing fresh, instead veering even further into cliche. The situations are still hackneyed and familiar to anyone who has seen a disaster film, or read or watched fiction about the era/setting. This part ends just after striking the iceberg but since it has been predictable thus far I doubt I'll pick up part three right away, if at all.

I read the first book which was pretty boring, but the supspence is great which made me buy the second. The second book was full of great details and will make you read the book till the end!

A stowaway, two murderers confined in the ship's brig, (plus Jack the Ripper, of the old Whitecastle murders) has been identified also aboard the Titanic, prowling for victims... Book #2 of Korman's Titanic series introduces you to adventure aboard the greatest ship of all time. Books like this should really interest young readers in historical events. I enjoy reading about the Titanic whenever I can, but this series really gives me some more insight. I think because it shows 4 teenagers' individual lives, and a little bit about all the classes of people who sailed on the magnificent ship. (The only thing I didn't approve of? Julie's father's problem with drinking & gambling.)
