Editorial Reviews

Booknews
As deputy chief of mission and charg<'e> d'afffaires at the US embassy in Bogot<'a>, Drexler supervised the anti-narcotics operations there. Now safely retired, he charges that the US drug policy failed because it made no effort to decrease the growing appetite for cocaine in the US, and focused instead on trying to interrupt the trade. He describes how the US policy was formed and how it prevented an effective alliance between the US and Columbia. Annotation c. by Book News, Inc., Portland, Or.

This book provides a front row seat to American policy in Colombia

A superb book. Drexler is objective and concludes that U.S. narcotics policy in Colombia is a failure.
