From The Critics
Reviewer: Kathleen E Kramer, MD(Stanford University)Description: This atlas uses high quality photographs and well written, brief synopses to cover an enormous amount of information about skin diseases in one book.
Purpose: The intent is to provide high quality photographs and succinct summary outlines of skin diseases as well as the skin signs of systemic diseases. The authors achieve this very useful objective.
Audience: The atlas is written not only for the practicing dermatologists, but also for other specialists or primary care physicians who are faced with patients with skin signs of diseases or questions about skin issues.
Features: Photos are the anchor of this book and it is filled with some of the best photographs of skin diseases available. The succinct summaries are more detailed than in previous editions, allowing this sixth edition to function as a more complete reference.
Assessment: This atlas combines over 900 color photographs with succinct descriptions of skin diseases and systemic diseases with skin manifestations to create the most useful single reference in the field. This is the one book I would recommend to a nondermatologist learning or practicing medicine in any field in any country. For dermatologists, as well, it is useful as a quick and easy reference guide.
