Holly tries to be patient, but all this rejection leaves her feeling isolated. A few anonymous pranks only make the loneliness worse. But then an unseen intruder terrorizes her at her parents’ house, and Holly realizes: There is more going on here than strained friendships and practical jokes. There is something to fear.

Then Peter stuns her with the truth: a demon is stalking her, feeding her doubts and fears in a final play for her soul. It’s Peter’s God-given task to protect her--but he’s running out of options.

Holly’s faith refuses to sustain her. Her friends succumb to forces beyond her understanding, and Evil feels a lot less evil. As the demon closes in, Holly faces a horrible choice between a heaven she fears and a hell she never imagined possible.

Meet the Author

Courtney Cantrell was born in Texas and grew up in Ger-many. At age 12, she penned her first novel: a one-page murder mystery. (The gardener did it.) By age 17, she had finished two full-length sci-fi novels.

After earning her bachelor’s degree in English/Writing from Oklahoma Christian University, Courtney worked as a missionary in Germany for six years. She then returned to Oklahoma City to begin writing full time. As of 2011, she has completed eight novels in multiple genres.

Courtney lives with her husband, two cats, and an assort-ment of cross-cultural doohickeys. She is a founding artist at ConsortiumOKC.com, a contributing editor at writing advice site UnstressedSyllables.com, and a regular blogger at her own courtcan.com.

Colors of Deception is her first published novel.

    Had me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end!

    Just the one line from the back cover was enough to get me to read more and I am so glad that I did. Courtney Cantrell delivers one suspenseful occurrence right after the next.

    During Holly Idaho's sophomore year at a Christian university she finds herself in a world that is almost unrecognizable to her. Her closest friends, Celia and Anne, are keeping secrets, Peter is beginning to act completely irrational, Owen is being cruel to her, and Holly starts to feel her life hanging in the balance as danger lurks all around her. While Holly battles the Demons that pursue her, her friends cave into their own temptations. Holly's faith is tested in a way that is unimaginable.

    Colors of Deception is so much more than a book about good vs. evil, it is a novel that is suspense filled and bone chilling at times. I was hooked by the well developed characters and mesmerizing by this amazing story line. I was on edge of my chair by the second chapter and stayed there until the very end.

    Colors of Deception is a terrific read for a wide range of readers. I recommend this book to readers of suspense, mystery, fantasy and paranormal.

    I couldn't read it fast enough! Consuming & compelling

    Courtney Cantrell has managed to navigate the precarious waters of "Christian fiction" and done it with both finesse and pizazz. I could not imagine that I was going to enjoy a book about demons at a Christian college, but not only did the author draw me in with her fascinating characters, she kept me riveted with her fast-paced plot. My only thought as I approached the end was, "Nooo! This can't be over!" I can hardly wait for the sequel and already mourn the final chapter of this series.
