Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
First published in France, this zesty book about colors offers genuine surprises. Each page features a flap with a die-cut shape that lets readers view the color and texture beneath. Ladybugs pepper one page, with the red die-cut forming the body of one of the bugs. Readers may expect more ladybugs under the flap, but instead, there awaits Santa Claus, whose black button doubles as the die-cut ladybug's spot. Many of the revealed objects are thematically linked to the main sceneā€”a mermaid beneath a spread featuring a school of fish, and an orange bunny hidden under a field of carrots. Laval delivers the thrills that a peek-a-boo book should with his charmingly eccentric compositions. Available simultaneously: Numbers. Up to age 3. (May)

    Returned

I ended up returning this book. Others may like it, but I prefer more realistic illustrations for educationsl books than this book offered. I also didn't like the objects selected to portray some of the different colors.
