Overview

Sent to help an overwhelmed cavalry, Lieutenant Colt Prescott is afraid of nothing, cowed by no one, and ready to ride for what he believes. . .

Colt

Hannah Brownley is a Texas girl, through and through. Defiant even after being held prisoner for years by the Comanche, her spirit has kept her fighting—and kept her alive. And it's not about to be broken now by a so-called rescue that's separated her from the one person who matters—her son.

But Colt cannot let Hannah return to her captors, even if doing so would appease the ruthless warrior endangering his fort. Nor can he forget her haunted moonlit eyes that seem to see through him, to his deepest desires. Which leaves him no choice: to find Hannah's child and be the hero she's always deserved. . .or die trying.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Gentry’s third Texans western (Rio; Diablo) features stock characters in a rote, overwrought story. Lt. Colton Prescott reaches his new assignment, a Southwest Texas fort, where he plans to help U.S. forces confront the local Comanche, with whom he spent a decade. After flirting with the commander’s dainty daughter, Olivia, Colt leads a raid into a Comanche camp and rescues Hannah Brownley, who was abused by her white husband and then kidnapped, raped (resulting in the birth of a child), and mistreated by the Comanche. Colt falls for Texas-bred, emotionally scarred Hannah and helps her rescue her son, even though Eastern-born, duplicitously sweet Olivia appears to be the better match. The remainder of the tale is divided between praise for rugged, loyal, honest Texans and scorn for Olivia’s attempts to snare Colt and ruin Hannah, all at the cost of the reader’s interest. Enjoyable

Having loved reading Georgina Gentry in my younger years, I eagerly jumped at the chance to read her latest book, Colt. The plot wasn’t necessarily new and fresh but still enjoyable none the less.

I found myself drawn into the story right from the start and felt a strong connection with both Colt and Hannah. Hannah was a very strong, fiercely independent woman who was dealt a rough, tough and harsh life from a very young age. Even though Colt was engaged to someone else, he found himself drawn to Hannah’s strength and determination. The romance between Hannah and Colt bloomed over time at a slow and sweet pace throughout the entire book.

While the over the top references to “”being a Texan”" became a bit cheesy by the end of the story, overall I found it to be an enjoyable read.

Even though this is book 3 of The Texans series, it definitely can be read as a standalone. In fact I look forward to reading books 1 and 2 to see what connection they make with this story. Also, I cannot wait to get my hands on upcoming book 4, Travis which will be featuring Hannah’s half-Comanche son from this story.

Are you in the mood for a good ‘ol pre Civil War romance?

Are you in the mood for a good ‘ol pre Civil War romance? This is the novel for you! Gentry has done her research for the 1850’s and the Indians versus the army.

Hannah, a stubborn, hardheaded young woman has been taken hostage by a group of Comanche Indians, not known to be friendly towards the white people. She’s been gone four years, leaving her abusive husband to think she’d been killed. She’s taken to their ways, knowing if she doesn’t abide they’d torture her and kill her. . . and then what would happen to her toddler son?

Colt is new to this troop of Calvary men straight from DC. However, having lived among the Comanche Indians he is familiar with their ways. It’s now time to work with the government and make sure no additional people are hurt by these unruly and rough Indians. . .until Hannah comes along.

This fast read will pull you into the love story and want you begging for more!

COLT(THE TEXANS) by Georgina Gentry is a wonderful historical romance set in 1852 Texas plains. It is the third“The Texans” series, but can be read as a stand alone. See, “Rio”,and “Diablo”. It is full of action, adventure,Indians, passion, betrayal, the horror of capture by Comanches, romance, and love. Hannah Brownley, has been held captive by Comanches for two years, but was Texas born and raised and would do anything to get back to her beloved son, left behind after being rescued.Colt Prescott,Hannah’s rescuer,a Cavalry Lieutenant,he cannot let Hannah return to her captors so he does the only thing he can, rescue her son and bring him,her and himself to safety. A fast paced, story with a powerful love story, that shows the struggles women of the old west encountered, their desire to survive, the love for a child, even one conceived of rape and torture and the power of true love and sacrifice. A must read for anyone who enjoys western historical romance, Texas history, hunky Texan men, life in the west,pre-civil war west, and powerful love story. Received for an honest review from the publisher. Details can be found at Zebra Books, a division of Kensington Books, the author’s website, and My Book Addiction and More.
