Overview

He let her go once. This time he's playing for keeps.

Colters' Legacy, Book 3

Callie Colter once chased sunsets all over the world. Until Max. Together they were a perfect storm of desire, and she reveled in the beautiful power. Then he disappeared without a word, and the betrayal drove her home to lick her wounds.

Who knew he'd have the gall to show his face in her brother's bar.

Max Wilder figures he deserves Callie's right hook to the jaw, but it changes nothing. He had his reasons for pursuing her across Europe, for making her fall in love with him. But when she took everything he gave and offered more, she changed all the rules. He had no choice leaving her, but he's back. This time for the right reasons.

Callie is angry and hurt, yet powerless against Max's relentless onslaught. He'll settle for nothing less than her complete surrender-and her love. Only when she's back in his arms will he be truly happy. And the damning truth can stay safely tucked away.
Except the truth has a way of creeping to the surface, and Max may just be out of second chances.

Warning: This title contains adult language, explicit sex, rough sex, anal sex. In other words...sex! Also contains themes of D/s which might offend some readers. Lots of angst, emotion and betrayal. Second chances and lots of warm fuzzies.

CONTAIN SPOILERS: I usually don't give public review, because reading fictional story affect each reader differently. Colters' Daughter come with A WARNING at the end of the sypnopsis: "This title contains adult language, explicit sex, rough sex, anal sex. In other words...sex! Also contains themes of D/s which might offend some readers. Lots of angst, emotion and betrayal. Second chances and lots of warm fuzzies." So read this with your eyes & mind wide open. If you read previous Colters series & already have expectation of how Callie & Max story should be BEFORE you read it and haven't been reading the tidbits of excerpts Maya Banks shared on her facebook page, then let me tell you - you're bound for disappointment. It's like when you're going to a movie that's based on a book/novel you read, when you go to the theatre already filled with expectation of what the movie should be, you're almost always leaving it disappointed. Remember the D/s warning on the blurb of this book? Well, if you think that Callie is the "D" and Max is the "s" in the relationship, I can't help you there. Callie is submissive & Max is dominant. This story is about their journey finding their HEA in a relationship where Callie willingly on her own free will surrendering her power (her heart, body & soul) and put it Max's hands to take care of and he wouldn't have it any other way. People may think of Callie as weak, but willingly surrendering & being forced to give-up part of yourself is totally 2 different things. The other large part of the story is how Max handled being given that much power over someone's everything where he had to sort out his own emotional turmoils which sometime results in mistakes that deeply hurt the person he loves. So far, we've known Callie from previous books as this independent, carefree, take-no-bs from others kind of girl. It's true, but that's NOT all of her. There are these all other sides of Callie we don't know about until we get to read this one. Makes perfect sense! Previous books aren't about her, this 1 is. In this one, we're exposed to the side of Callie as a girl who love having her every needs taken care of. Yes, she's independent but she's spoilt too. Some hate this because it makes her look weak & needy. To me, it makes her more real. It's WAY too good to be true for the ONLY daughter who live her entire life as the youngest child with 3 dads & 3 older brothers hovering & showering her with love & attention AND NOT be spoilt. Yes, she's her own woman, independent and stuff, but there ought to be a spoilt girl in there somewhere, don't you think? Well, it turns out the independent & spoilt Callie need a strong man to share her life with. She found her dom Max, who's making mistakes left & right because he's used to getting his own way for the majority of his life & trying to make it work, being as dominant as he is, with Callie AND her entire family isn't easy. In the end, they get their happy ending & I'm thoroughly entertained reading their journey getting there. I like this book as much as I like the previous ones in Colters series.

The romance element in this story was sweet and touching. However, the sexual element was disturbing (in my opinion). I was not expecting such graphic domination/submission and was uncomfortable with the "submission" of the main character. I don't think that the treatment she is subjected to is loving or romantic. This one really did not work for me.

i purchased this book because of how highly it was rated. i understood that it dealt with a d/s relationship, and i was fine with that as long as the author could make it work. for me it didnt, at all. the characters werent believable or rather their feelings for each other werent. the sex scenes made me feel dirty, not because of what they did but because none of it had affection or love at its core. all around it was just too forced for me and i ended up skipping more pages than i read.

A great 3rd book in the series, VERY VERY nice (wink, wink) sex scenes. I love Callie and the whole Colter clan. Need me some Seth and Dillion.. ;) The few things that stopped this from being a 5 star book were; I didn't feel a in depth connection as i did with Holly and Lily's books. I felt like everything was abbreviated or shortened. AND....I wanted a longer ending. Even though the families lifestyle isn't one I would chose, I still like to read and enjoy them. I cried when I read Lily's book!

I've read the entire Colter Legacy series and this book more than lives up to the previous books. Max and Callie's love story lives up the romance of fathers' and mother as well as her brothers' and their wife. Entertaining and enjoyable, however ... don't forget the paper tissues, as you are sure to have a cry or two along the way.

This is a terrific novel and I couldn't put it down! I loved it was an adult book, and not afraid to go there- well written and yet bold and modern at the same time. This is one of those few books, along the lines of Van Rae's new novel, that you could simply not have found in bookstores even 50 years ago or it would have been shoved in some back section, yet it provides wonderful entertainment and a good story.

This is one Book I will never recommend to anyone. It is the first of this so called Series I have read and it is the absolute LAST. It is so demeaning, what kind of people actually live & behave this way!! I am half way through and I am not reading anymore of this submissive, sexually control freak, master slave junk. There are so many other great authors and books out there to waste my time reading anymore of this cr*p

This book was degrading and appalling. Worst I have ever read.

Overall, it was not a bad book. But it was a very different than the first two books. I think the first two books were more about love and really taken care of the women. With this book it was more about control. If you are not into BDSM then this is not the book for you.

The main character and story were totally overshadowed by the manipulative sexual demands on her by a control freak. I would have left him in a heartbeat !

I usually love the hot steamy scenes in her books, but this book had some that made me feel uncomfortable. The lead male in this book is a total mysogynist. Some of the sex was degrading and felt more like I was reading s and m. Not quite my cup of tea

This book was sickening! I wanted to like it but i had to stop reading it made me so mad i was yelling at the story line. This plain and simple abuse not love! If he changed i might have been able to finish but to just go with it leads people to believe it ok. Dont read this book! Will not read anything else by her!

I really enjoyed this book. Good story and characters. I skip over the graphic sex but that's ok. Others might enjoy that sort of thing but it's not real to me. I couldn't see Callie being such a weekling in sex because she is such a strong character.

The continuation of the Colter series is a must read. The relationship between Callie and Max is hot, hot, hot. I highly recommend all the Colter books by Maya Banks.

Callie's and Max's story is really good.  I didn't enjoy it as much as the other Colters' books, but that didn't make it a bad book. I would love to read more of the Colters family.
