An active guide in the outreach program of the Leland Stanford, Jr. Museum, Stanford University, the author, Mary Lawrence Eckhart, has had a colorful an adventurous life. She grew up in a remote corner of southeastern Montana, where she survived two meetings with rattlesnakes—once in her bedroom, a second time while playing with friends in the dark. Both times, she was saved by her faithful dog, Boots.
She is a graduate of Brigham Young University with a degree in English Literature; there she was a teaching assistant. Since then, she has raised three sons, and lived for many years in England, Australia, Germany, and Sweden. Her main interests are art history and writing children’s stories.
