Come Look with Me: Exploring Native American Art with Children

by Stephanie Salomon

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Gisela Jernigan
This is a worthwhile addition to the excellent "Come Look with Me" series. It follows the same format as the other books, but the aim in this selection is to introduce children to Native American art. After a brief preface and section on how to use the book, twelve color photos of artworks, each with an accompanying page of questions and background information on the piece and its relationship to the particular culture, encourage the young reader to think about the artwork and connect it to his or her own life and experiences. A nice variety of artworks ranging from a Nez Perce mask for a horse to a Seneca cornhusk doll represent a variety of Native American groups. This book would be great for an adult to share with a small group of children.
