All Music Guide - Stephen Thomas Erlewine
Shania Twain's second record, The Woman in Me, became a blockbuster, appealing as much to a pop audience as it did to the country audience. Part of the reason for its success was how producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange -- best-known for his work with Def Leppard, the Cars, and AC/DC -- steered Twain toward the big choruses and instrumentation that always was a signature of his speciality, AOR radio.
Come on Over, the sequel to The Woman in Me, continues that approach, breaking from contemporary country conventions in a number of ways. Not only does the music lean toward rock, but its 16 songs and, as the cover proudly claims, "Hour of Music," break from the country tradition of cheap, short albums of ten songs that last about a half-hour. Furthermore, all 16 songs and Lange-Twain originals and Shania's sleek, sexy photos suggest a New York fashion model, not a honky tonker. And there isn't any honky tonk here, which is just as well, since the fiddles are processed to sound like synthesizers and talk boxes never sound good on down-home, gritty rave-ups. No, Shania sticks to what she does best, which is countrified mainstream pop. Purists will complain that there's little country here, and there really isn't. However, what is here is professionally crafted country-pop -- even the filler which there is, unfortunately, too much of sounds good -- which is delivered with conviction, if not style, by Shania, and that is enough to make it a thoroughly successful follow-up to the most successful country album by a female in history.

I never thought I'd like a country album

I used to resent country music. I thought everybody sounded so drunk and it was so, so boring (Brooks & Dunn, Tanya Tucker, Vince Gill, etc). But when Shania Twain hit the scene with his album, she wasn't so bad. I bought the CD recently and it is so great! Shania is a great singer, and just about every song on here is awesome. (Her husband/producer is Robert John "Mutt" Lange of AC/DC, Genesis, Foreigner and Def Leppard fame so that's probably why I like it.) I am also going to get her new CD "Up!". Anybody who doesn't like country music, I suggest you buy this and/or "Up!". The more you listen to it, the more you will enjoy it.

    IT'S A GOOD CD

I just bought this CD, like in March and now it's May. I had kind of forgotten about her, until I saw her in concert, on VH1. I remembered how much I liked her music. Later, I bought the CD, and now, I wake up to Man, I Feel Like A Woman, in the mornings. I have only listened to a few songs on this CD, but I intend to listen to the rest, soon.

    Steer Clear!

This is the worst music album by Shania Twain yet! In this album she mixes pop and country together making it sound completely dreadful and appalling. I would give it a ¿15 out of 10. If Shania is going to keep making music like this then I think that she should resign her title as being a country singer and transition over to the pop music industry. Her first song on the album ¿Man! I feel like a woman!¿ sounds like a No Doubt reject and she takes it way over to the extreme, and I don¿t mean that in a good way. If you are a die-hard dedicated country fan like I am then I would recommend you to STEER CLEAR of this album.

    THE HAPPY HOUR SHANIA SONG

AFTER A LONG HARD DAY OF WORK EVERY BODY IN THE HIGH TECH NEIGHBOURHOOD LOOK FOR A PLACE TO UNWIND AND DESTRESS CYBER CAFES. INSTEAD OF HEARING LOT OF LOUD NOISES. IT IS SO RELAXING TO LISTEN TO COMEONOVER SONG BY SHANIA AND REALLY UNWIND AND RELAX OVER ONE OF YOUR FAVOURITE COCKTAILS. FROM WHITE RUSSIAN,TO STRAWBERRY DICHOREE TO MARGARITAS. THIS SONG MAKE YOU REALLY PLAY ATTENTION TO THE WORDS AND BRINGS ABOUT A TRANSFORMATION IN SLAVE DOG WORK ATTITUDE TO A LAZY BUM ON THE BEACH HAVING GOOD TIME ATTITUDE. IT NOT ONLY INVOGARATE YOUR MIND BUT ALSO RELAXES YOUR BODY. MAY BE THE AMERICAN INDIAN HERITAGE OF SHANIA FROM CANADA HAS THE HEALING EFFECT OF A MODERN DAY MUSICAL SHAMIN. NOW THAT SHE IS AMERICAN. THIS THE GREATEST COUNTRY MUSICAL HIT NOT ONLY FOR SHANIA TWAIN BUT ALSO FOR THE ENTIRE COUNTRY MUSIC INDUSTRY. ONE OF THE MANY FIRSTS FOR MUSICAL INDUSTRY. SUCH FEATS OF EXEMPLARY PERFORMANCE IN MUSIC AND BUSINESS SPEAKS OF THE EXTRA CALIBRE AND TENOR OF A MUSICAL ARTIST. NOT TO MENTION SHE IS SO FASHIONABLE BREATHTAKINGLY BEAUTIFUL.SHE HAS DEMONSTRATED ALL THE QUALITIES OF A SUPER ANGEL FROM HEAVEN.

BUY IT!!! IF YOU ARE A FAN OF GREAT MUSIC .

I listen to all kinds of music and am especially a great fan of country. Shania's music bridges different types of music and connects them so fluidly and with such intent and purpose that it truly leaves a lasting impression both musically and lyrically. Her lyrics are poignant and direct. She sings of life in both a humorous and sensitive way. She touches on issues just enough to get her positive message across. She is not afraid to allow her fans to chose her music for it's integrity as well as for who she is.. She is true to herself and the music she wants to share. She is honest, unpretentious and she has proven herself to be the kind of person we should all strive to be, on the inside. She took the risks for all artists now crossing over and selling only image. Let's all go out and be the 1st one's to buy Shania's next album.
