The new 2nd edition of Comedy Writing Secrets is more than a joy, it's an inspiration. I love the fact that the authors give encouragement along with hundreds of tips on comedy structure and format. There's also dozens of practice examples. I started out writing a funny answering machine response and I've noticed even strangers are calling me just to get a chuckle. Next time I'll suggest they send me their VISA card number.

Not only do I recommend this book, I will go as far as to tell you to get your hands on it any way you can (Avoid theft if possible). Mel Helitzer has written an outstanding book for not only comedian/comedianne hopefuls, but for anyone who can read.

No matter where you are at being a funny person, if you want to create humor with other people, read this book and read it several times. This is one of the best written books on humor that I've ever read. And I've read it several times to really get the full feeling of it.

I do a lot of public speaking in my profession, my church and my political organization. Because of "Comedy Writing Secrets" I learned how to start off each speech with a smile, include humorous anecdotes and get off stage to a standing ovation. Now that's something to cheer about.

This is the first book that takes comedy and humor writing and makes it readable, logical and inspiring. I teach the course at Ohio University and I never knew that comedy has so many formulas, techniques and personas. My humor writing class is one of the most popular in the university and there is a one year waiting list to get in. Other professors are so envious, they're waiting patiently for me to retire or die. Strange, because with humor, we often die every day. The only problem with the book is that I have to keep reordering Comedy Writing Secrets because it constantly gets stolen off my desk. No one steals my book on qualitative research analysis.
