Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
In her third Harmony novel, Thomas (Welcome to Harmony) takes readers back to that Texas town where a number of romances come to a head after a tornado strikes. Funeral director Tyler Wright struggles to profess his love to Maj. Kate Cummings. Aspiring rodeo star Noah MacAllen keeps returning to Harmony and his best friend (and beloved) Reagan Truman. Reagan, whose “uncle” Jeremiah (he’s her foster father) is dying, wrestles with her feelings for Noah and local firefighter Brandon Biggs. Meanwhile, shy Ronelle Logan meets angry, lonely Martin Winslow, who helps her emerge from her shell. Despite their passion, Claire Matheson has trouble committing to Denver Sims. The tornado leaves each character wondering if loved ones have survived, and this uncertainty forces them to action. Even for readers new to the series, the intricate relationships between these affable men and eccentric women are easy to follow and even easier to love. Thomas skillfully juggles the many subplots, and the relationship between Ronelle and Marty, which inspires both to trust again, is especially touching. (Nov.)

    an engaging tale

In Harmony, Texas, funeral home director Tyler Wright has loved Major Kate Cummings for years but struggles to tell her how he feels for fear his devotion will drive her away like she has done before. Rodeo performer Noah MacAllen loves his BFF Reagan Truman, but she has another beau in firefighter Brandon Biggs while she also knows her foster father "Uncle" Jeremiah is dying; she also fears Noah will get hurt performing at the rodeo. Maternal abuse victim, reticent Ronelle Logan and crippled raging recluse Martin Winslow help each other crawl out of their respective shells. Denver Sims wants Claire Matheson to commit exclusively to him like he will do to her.

However, a tornado strikes the town. The frightened survivors reassess what matters in their lives.

The third Harmony small-town drama is an engaging tale that focuses on the relationships between several couples and potential parings as a vicious storm hits the Texas community. It behooves fans to have read the previous two tales (Welcome to Harmony and Somewhere Along the Way) to see how far the relations have changed. With a nod to Debbie Macomber's Cedar Cove contemporary addresses, fans will enjoy visiting Harmony to see old friends and meet new ones.

    Firework

"Well... me, RedTree, and OliveTree ((two of my besties from school in rl's ocs)) were walking through the forest to find MagiBolt ((my first pony oc, who is protector of the everfree)) to get something for my pheonix who was sick. I got us lost and it started thundering and lightninging and we had to find shelter fast. I brought us to the castle of the two sisters. We were settling down when a shadow fell on us. I didnt remember what had happened when i woke up. But she had just given us all horrible sides. Mine was triggerhappy, or still is. ((Im actually thinking of changing her name to firebomb instead of triggerhappy...)) And she happens whenever im pi<_>ssed off. And yeah. She goes on killing sprees when she is in control. Thankfully fossil friend ((another oc of one of my friends fron school in rl)) stopped them or at least helped me control when she happens. He is kewl. But now it happened. I was so pi<_ssed off that she happened. :/"

Review originally posted at Romancing the Book

When Jodi Thomas asked me to review The Comforts of Home, I quickly rushed out to get the first two books in the series.  I ended up reading all three over the course of a weekend.  This series reminds me a bit of Debbie Macomber’s Cedar Cove series or Robyn Carr’s Virgin River series.  The series revolves around Harmony, Texas and it’s inhabitants.

This book has several plots threading throughout it’s pages.  First is Reagan and Noah’s story.  Reagan has been a main character from page one of the first book.  She’s finally ready to take the next step in a relationship with her best friend, Noah, but he’s too busy on the rodeo circuit.  Then the romance between the funeral director, Noah, and his penpal, Kate, is finally making progress.  We also get to know Ronelle, an extremely shy postal worker, and her budding friendship with Marty, a disabled man.  And last, Denver and Claire’s relationship is no longer a secret and is really heating up.

I really am enjoying this series.  However, my main problem is that I couldn’t pick out a main plot line.  The blurb says it’s Reagan and Noah’s story.  But I don’t feel that they had the pages to claim that honor.  And their story wasn’t really resolved in the end (I’m sure it will continue in Just Down the Road).  There are so many characters and plots that I don’t feel like I’m getting those happily ever afters that I look for in my romance novels.  But, I was still interested enough to keep turning the pages and will likely read the next book to see where this series is going to go.

    Unhappy

The book might be a good book but the Nook edition is poorly done. You will be reading along and all of a sudden there is a big skip. Part of the story is missing. I paid money for a complete book not part of a book.
