Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
Deep in the forest, far from the owls who hunt him, a royal chick named Hoole is slowly maturing in seclusion, raised by the gentle spotted owl Grank. From time to time, Hoole's mother visits him, but his guardians cloak her identity even from her young son; the same birds who killed Hrath are eager to kill his heir. As dangers to his safety escalate, Grank brings him to Beyond the Beyond, a strange volcanic realm where murderous hagsfiends are seldom seen.
Children's Literature - Monserrat Urena
The Guardians of Ga'Hoole have gathered to read the legends of the birth of Hoole, the great owl king. Through the books of legend they learn of the devastating wars that drove good Queen Siv to escape the evil Lord Arrin. Fleeing with her only egg, she places it in the care of the owl Grank and his apprentice Theo. She is soon forced to flee and go into hiding. Grank and Theo are left to watch over the special egg in secret and train the hatchling that would be king. All the while they are aware that they must keep Hoole's true identity hidden from Lord Arrin, his army of hagsfiends, and even from Hoole himself. With great care and special attention they teach young Hoole all he must know in order to be king, because no one can hide forever. This is a wonderful fantasy series with a well-wrought secondary world. Despite never having read the nine previous books in the series, I did not feel alienated from the characters in the text. I was emotionally involved and was not lost despite the complicated story structure and the numerous characters. I will definitely be reading more of Lasky's series.

Quite frankly I only read this for AR points. That is how I began to read the series, yet it is great and I am forever glad that I read these books. I am on the book The River of Wind, and am deeply interested with the book. For young ones looking for a good book or a new world to explore, this is a great book. I am 11 and love reading, and have never seen anything like these novels. This is personally on of my favorites. But, I warn, you must read the Prologue and Epilogue to understand what exactky you are reading, which is actually what the owls (mainly Coryn and Soren) are reading in dear Ezylryb's secret hollow. Highly recommended for owl lovers, those who are bookworms

    Ga'Hoole Flys On

this is one of my favorite ga'hoole books. hoole is finally hatched, and grank and theo are trying to make him as prince like as possible without him knowing that he is a prince. meanwhile, siv leaves svenka in search of hoole. also, lord arrin sends out ygryk and pleek to go and rip hoole's eye out, so when it grows back it will have natchmagen. a must read

    Absolutly Awsome!

Theese books are getting better and better! Unlike some books the story line gets more and more exciting as the seires goes on! The Ga'Hoole books are for all ages and intrests. I say this from experience because after I buy and read my book I lend it to four other people one of which is my bus driver! I would definitly recomend this book to anyone looking for a good book to read. I can't wait for the next book and THE MOVIE!!!!!!!!!
