This book is filled with the most thorough diagrams of lighting

This book is filled with the most thorough diagrams of lighting setups I have ever seen in a photography book. There are hundreds of sample pictures each with a diagram and explanation of how the shot was done. The first section of images show a series of small changes in lighting position and equipment with each step explained in detail. The second section of images covers the lighting setups of actual commercial shoots done by Morrissey. These also include an info box with all of the specifications used to create that image. This is basically a recipe book for commercial shoots. I'm excited to try some out for myself now..

Master Lighting Guide is just that. A guide that you can feel comfortable being your go to reference for lighting advice. The beauty is in its ability to thoroughly explain all of the topics covered in a simple, easy to understand way. Even for an amateur like myself, I felt like the various scenarios were explained in such a way that I could feel comfortable trying to reproduce them myself. The dialog is very consistent and informative. Pair that with the tips and tricks provided from a source of true experience/professionalism and you feel like you have a personal lighting trainer talking in your ear as you flip through the pages. Like they always say, “The best camera is the one you have on you”. I believe this can be extended to resource materials and I must say that this guide packs a lot of punch in a small easy to consume package that makes it perfect for laying around the set or tucked in your car for emergency inspiration on the fly. This is a must read for amateur and upcoming photographers interested in mastering the art of lighting.

This book is so detailed! I have began using techniques within the book and have noticed dramatic changes in my portrait photography (in studio primarily). I have received remarks from friends and family on the instant change in my work. Lighting is the most important part of photography and this book will help you take your work to the next level. It was easy to read and understand and gave fanstasic examples. I cant wait to try all of the techniques! I would recommend this book to anyone from phone photography to DSLR photography, whether you have troubles with lighting or not. Knowledge is power.
