One of the best books I've read in my life! I enjoyed every second of it. It incorporated many recipes and Mexican traditions of the 19th century. I loved it! The adventure of Tita's love with Pedro is such a touching, as well as funny, novela. Laura Esquivel outdid herself. Two thumbs up! Uno de los mejores libros que he leido en mi vida! Disfrute cada segundo de este drama. Me gusto como incorporaron recetas y tradiciones de Mexicanos en el siglo 19. Me encanto! La aventura del amor que comparten Tita y Pedro es emotivo y muy divertido! Laura Esquivel hico un magnico trabajo con esta novela. Fantastico!

Laura Esquirel's book, Like Water for Chocolate was a beautiful, life changing story about a young Spanish woman, Tita, who has fallen in love with a young Spanish man, Pedro. According to Spanish tradition, the youngest daughter of the house cannot marry. They have to take care of their mother till the day they die. Tita's mother had given birth to Tita right in the kitchen. To that day on, she was to become a great cook. Tita didn’t love her Mama Ellana much at all. She made the love of her life do something none of them would have ever thought was possible and he did it. There was a wedding that Tita had to bake the cake for, and while she baked it she cried so much that when the guests at the party ate it, they felt sadness and a terrible sickness that drove them all wild and the wedding became a disaster area. This book was very romantic in a lot of ways and it really touched my heart deeply. It completely changed my mind set on how to love and what the word love really means. This book specifically tells you that no matter how much you love a person, you'll do anything in your will to be with them. I came across a poem while reading this book and instantly fell in love with it. "If a strong emotion suddenly lights all the candles we carry inside ourselves, it creates a brightness that shines far beyond our normal vision and then a splendid tunnel appears that shows us the way that we forgot when we were born and calls us to recover our divine origin. The soul longs to return to the place it came from, leaving the body lifeless." To me this poem is about love. How when you find the love of your life and you give them everything you have including your soul. True love is a beautiful and mysterious thing in life that keeps us alive in the mind and it the heart. When you become in love you will know it. Everything about that person will make you have a feeling that you have never felt before. This feeling is what I like to call, love. This book was amazing. I think all young mature woman should read this book to get a real mindset of what love really means and how it’s not a word that can just be thrown out into the world at any given time. This book, Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquirel was one of the best books I have ever read in my life.
