If you hate cats, this is the book for you. In the two stories I read, one cat was set on fire, and in another the owner, who supposedly cared for his feline companion, slowly starved it to death and commented in a clinical manner how it accepted its fate. I'm not an animal fanatic, but it's beyond me how the editor and publisher could have presented this book as "a meaningful as well as delightful gift book ."

I've only read a few stories from this book so far, but they're pretty good. They're a bit lacking in something, though... I guess I'm just used to Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul and books like that, that have real lessons to be learned. These really don't have a, well, a point, really... except to display the cat's not-so-bad qualities.
