Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly - Publisher's Weekly
"Salted cockroaches are said to have an agreeable flavour, which is apparent in certain popular sauces." Well, maybe not that popular. This quote from an 1886 book on The Structure and Life History of the Cockroach is part of The Compleat Cockroach, David George Gordon's look at the biology, behavior, sociology and culture (Kafka, Don Marquis, Donald Harrington, Daniel Evan Weiss) of blattids. And for those less interested in the lives of cockroaches, there's also an extensive section on exterminating them.

    Great book!

After reading the Complete Cockroach for a research project at work I found myself continually quoting interesting cockroach facts and stories to my friends and family. I never would have thought I could be so interested in cockroaches. This book is great -- very informative and fun to read!

    Interesting...

The 'unprofessionalism' is what makes this book so good. He doesn't try and drown you in sci-babble, but he does include enough to fire the appetite of true scientists. As far as evolution goes, it is a much better theory than some folks would like to admit, so don't let that stop you from enjoying this book.

    A fun book

I thought this was a very interesting book, but it was somewhat unprofessional in that it discussed evolution as a fact when it really is a theory. Caroline<><
