    ATK's best book yet

    I have about 20 cookbooks by the America's Test Kitchen / Cook's Illustrated gang and give them full credit for my cooking and baking skills. As much as I love all my ATK cookbooks, though, this is by far my favorite. I use it multiple times every week. In fact, I just made the classic chocolate chip cookies out of this book last night, which, by the way, are the best chocolate chip cookies in the galaxy.

    You can't go wrong with this cookbook- ever!

    Every recipe is proven and tested, as well as explained how they arrived at the final, published recipe. You do not have to do any experimentation or change any of the ingredients-- all that has been done for you already. That's why you can't go wrong in buying this book. Everything I have tried is excellent, like the best blueberry pancakes I've ever eaten. I believe a novice cook would highly benefit from this cookbook, as you can learn what works and what doesn't work, through their explanations, and you can then apply that knowledge to other things you cook.

    Foolproof Recopies!

    I received this as a gift over a year ago. I'm a novice cook and have made about 20 thins from this book and have yet to mess up a recipe! On top of that a lot of the things I have made are some pretty difficult things, such as multi-grain bread from scratch. I've also made the chocolate chip cookies for friends or taken them to parties and things and they get rave reviews every time, people are always asking me for my cookie recipe! The product reviews and equipment information is also really great, as a relatively new cook this gives me an idea of the best way to have a well stocked kitchen. Overall, I LOVE this cookbook!

    Great All-around Cookbook

    This is one of the best cookbooks out there when it comes to the basics and beyond. This will be one of my wedding shower gifts going forward. Just about anything you would want to make has a recipe in this book with great detailed instructions, including a lot of ethnic foods. I really like the "why this recipe works" explanation at the start of each recipe. I recommend this book to everyone - beginning cooks, experienced cooks, young, old - anyone who wants to try something they have not made before.
