    Best Book on Presidents

I am a former Nixon scholar and this is the best book i have found on all the presidents. This book has every detail one needs to better understand our Chief Executives and Commander In Chiefs.

    5th edition not updated either

It used to be a great book to hand people and say 'here are the basics'. I was greatly disappointed when I purchased the 'updated' 5th edition which contains numerous omissions in biographical data. Still not there, in 2001 edition, is a death date for Nixon (died 1994) or Justices Burger (died in 1995), Marshall (1993), Blackmun (1999), etc. It seems to me that the only 'update' was information regarding Geo W Bush. They weren't thorough even in that because they didn't bother to go back to his father's bio and make a note under 'children' saying see '43rd president of the US'. I hope they review the past 9 administrations to correct all the bios in the 6th edition.

    EXCELLENT Book!

One of my favorite subjects to read about is U.S. History and U.S. president's biographies. This book is an excellent reference that I can not put down. Whether I spend 10 minutes with the book or a couple of hours, I always come away learning something new about our presidents. It's very insightful and just an awesome book!!

    A Great Presidential Resource

'The Complete Book of the U.S. Presidents' is an excellent resource to keep available for whenever one of those questions about the U.S. Presidents pops up. Each entry includes the basic information including a picture and a series of categories of details. Examples of the categories include a physical description, birth, relatives, romances, education and pre-presidential and post presidential careers. The sections on the presidency of each individual includes information on the elections including opponents, popular votes and electoral votes by each candidate by state. Some details of vice-presidents and cabinets are included as well as the major events of the administration. The entries usually conclude with quotations of the president, as well as quotations by others praising and criticizing the president. I kept this book in my car for months during which I read it cover to cover. It can very easily be read over an extended period, because each section stands independently. I have since kept it on the bookshelf from which I have removed it on many occasions for reference. I strongly recommend this book for anyone with an interest in the U.S. Presidents.
