As diabetic cookbooks go, this cookbook has one of the largest selections of recipes I have ever seen! I originally purchased the book as a gift for my brother-in-law, and fell in love with it, making several recipes from it for a holiday dinner, and for baked goods for myself and for gifts to give to diabetic friends and relatives. Although I was disappointed in 1 of the recipes (mincemeat pie), I do not know if that is the recipe at fault, or just my personal taste, for there were others who enjoyed the pie, as well those who did not. It is mincemeat after all, an acquired taste. But the fact that this book has a mincemeat pie recipe at all is testimony to it's wonderful selection. One of the muffin recipes turned out to be more like biscuits then muffins, but they were still delicious. Other muffin recipes and bread recipes and pie recipes turned out quite well. As a diabetic, I appreciated the nutritional breakdown for each ingredient and a total at the end of each recipe. I am purchasing a copy for myself.

I am so disappointed in this cookbook. It doesn't have a single picture. Most of the recipes call for certain brands of food or types of cereal that I've never heard of and that aren't available across the U.S. All of the dessert recipes call for artificial sweeteners (which I don't use) and most other recipes are very high in fat. I bought this recipe (though I'm not diabetic) because I'm trying to eat healthy and lose weight. This cookbook will not help me.
